Position Turnover and Volatility in Counselor Education Over a 15-Year Period
A survey of actual counselor education position changes between 1971-1986 revealed high turnover but decreasing volatility. Estimates for 1987-1992 suggest both less turnover and volatility
Reference Inaccuracies in Two Counseling Journals
Article, book, and dissertation entries in reference lists in one volume year for two counseling journals were searched for accuracy. Among 2,388 verified references (85.7% of all cited references), 1,072 (44.9%) contained at least one error. Multiple errors in some references produced a total of 1,643 faults or errors. Data were tallied by reference segments (e.g., author, title). Findings paralleled data in five reports of similar research, pri…

A study was made of factors considered of varying significance by people who completed a master's degree program in counselor education. Names of graduates were supplied by 25 randomly sampled counselor education programs. A 31-item questionnaire was returned by 291 (78.6%) of the nationwide sample. A Factor Analysis of the Counseling-Orientation Preference Scale (COS)
As recommended by the authors of the Counseling-Orientation Preference Scale (COS), a factor analysis study was conducted to investigate the construct validity of the device. Data were collected from 686 respondents in 11 higher education institutions in the U.S. Means and standard deviations from this group and from two previously studied groups were reported. In 21 years, CES has appeared 87 times, has had 7 editors, and has had 85 pople serving on the editorial board. A total of 1, 103 articles on various topics has appeared, including 983 substantive articles, authored by 997 people alone or as multiple authors. Topical changes are analyzed and discussed, along with changes in authorship and some related trends. Comparisons are made with other journals for which similar analyses have been done
