Crisis Intervention
A paradigm for the classification of emotional crises
A model for the classification of six general types of crises frequently encountered in crisis clinics is presented. Defining characteristics, intervention strategy, and a case example are considered for each type of crisis. The model is proposed for teaching crisis therapy and enhancing the effectiveness of crisis intervention in clinical contexts

Autonomic Stress Resolution in Repressors and Sensitizers following Microcounseling
The effectiveness of the respective defensive orientations of repressors ( n = 24) and sensitizers ( n = 24) in reducing autonomic stress was studied. In an experimental interview, heart rate and GSR were recorded during 90-sec. intervals prior to stress induction (Rest), as Ss received self-discrepant information (Stress), and following microcounseling (Resolution). Male college students with repressing and sensitizing defenses were presented wi…
Change in Interpersonal Cognitive Complexity as a Function of a Training Group Experience
Twenty-five Ss participated in 5-day training programs emphasizing self-awareness, sensitivity to others, and development of basic interviewing skills. Ss were administered the Bieri Cognitive Complexity-Simplicity Scale early on the first day (pretest) and late on the last day (posttest) of training. Results showed significant changes from pre- to posttest on total cognitive complexity scores, as well as on subtotals associated with positive rol…
