The Angry Buzz: This Week and Current Affairs Television
"Current affairs television in the UK, in more than half a century of programmes, has set out to tell us something we didn't know, treating its audience as citizens with the right to demand that 'something must be done'. Over their 36 year history, the current affairs series "This Week" and its replacement "TVEye", helped to mark out that democratic project. This is the story of "This Week", one of the few giants of the genre, set within the wide…

School contexts that encourage reflection: Teacher perceptions
The following is a report of a study of the relationship between school context and learning how to teach. The context for reflective practice in seven schools is discussed. Teacher interview data provide the basic information. The data include the identification of factors within each sc…
Stories of supervision: Tutorials in a transformative practice of supervision
Four years ago I began asking students in a graduate course on instructional supervision to present what I called incidents in supervision. I explained that they were to think of experiences that stood out in their memories, experiences of being supervised themselves or of being the supervisor, and that these experiences should still trigger in them an emotional reaction-either positive or negative-even though the events themselves were long past…
