Media production studies for the digital age: AI-driven analyses of Jonas Risvig’s Danish young adult content
In this article, we propose a shift towards AI-driven methodologies in media production studies, encompassing data collection, processing, and visualisation. We highlight how online sources offer a valuable opportunity to understand contemporary trends and discourse around popular media. By focussing on serial dramas, we demonstrate that computational methods allow for the analysis of larger datasets, which enhances the validity of the results. H…
Scandinavian success as European policy dilemma: Creative Europe’s funding for TV drama co-productions, 2014-20
This article surveys the fiction productions that received funding from Creative Europe’s TV Programming scheme 2014–2020. The evaluation shows that most funding went to North-Western Europe with Scandinavia surpassing Europe’s big TV producing nations. The geographical and genre imbalances in the TV scheme must be seen in the light of the long-established close collaboration between Germany and primarily the Scandinavian countries and the profil…

The article describes the development of early Danish film criticism and film theory from the nascent critical debates around 1910 until the substantial film-theoretical publications in the late thirties.
