Crises/Disasters
Crises and disasters are defined by levels of severity. The contribution notes the history of crises and disaster analyses in organization behavior and notes that both are often studied as embedded in organizations. It details some popular concepts in analyzing the cause of failures including, “normal accidents,” “fine tuning to disaster,” “purposeful unintended consequences,” and “crisis prone organizations.”
The Context and Leadership
This chapter explores the role context has played in leadership research over the last 100 years and offers a historical description of diverse perspectives and understandings of this interplay. Using a combination of instutitional, systems contingency and ecological theory. this paper argues and empirically demonstrates that key founding characteristics of international alliances are embedded (interactively related) in one another. Specifically, the technical area of the alliance activity, the intended direction of product/knowledge flows among sponsors, and the administrative form of the alliances are shown to be interactively related.…
