From asset damage to service disruption: A two-layer cascading flood-risk framework for interdependent infrastructure systems
Spatiotemporal synergy of rooftop rainwater harvesting: Dual benefits in flood mitigation and multi-purpose supply under climate change
Decoding stakeholders' demand to map the future of smart communities: Evidence from China
Background: Smart community development is critical for enhancing community resilience and strengthening collective capacities to respond to public health and other urban crises. A model-based taxonomy of stakeholder demands remains absent, as existing exploration has largely been limited to analyses of single stakeholder groups. Method: This study therefore develops a comprehensive classification model to capture stakeholder demands across three…

Spatial Distribution and Prediction of Cu and Mn in Helan Farmland Soil Based on GIS and Machine Learning
Cu and Mn in soil play a crucial role in crop growth, but excessive amounts of Cu and Mn can pose a health threat to crops and humans. Therefore, accurately understanding Cu and Mn spatial distribution in soil is significant for protecting the ecological environment and human health. This study employed four machine learning (ML) methods, namely ordinary kriging (OK), back propagation neural network (BPNN), random forest (RF), and support vector …

Evaluating a Guided Personalised Learning Model in Undergraduate Engineering Education: A Data-Driven Approach to Student-Centred Pedagogy
This study investigates the implementation and impact of the Guided Personalised Learning (GPL) model, a structured pedagogical framework designed to operationalise personalised and student-centred learning in STEM higher education. The GPL model integrates three interconnected components: a three-dimensional knowledge and skill grid, Interactive Learning Progress Assessments (ILPA), and an adaptive learning resource pool. These components were e…
Extreme climatic event shocks and employment: Empirical evidence from Chinese firms
Climate change increasingly threatens human development, economic resilience and labour market stability. Using panel data from Chinese A-share listed firms (2007–2021), this study quantifies the employment impacts of extreme temperatures. A one-standard-deviation increase in exposure reduces employment by 0.07 per cent, equivalent to an average loss of 0.0054 workers per firm and 4.36 jobs across the sample. Extreme heat has a stronger effect th…

The relationship between depression and lipid accumulation product: A population-based study
There are positive results between LAP and depression after adjusting for multiple potential variables, and prospective studies are needed to verify the results
Impact of health literacy, social support, and socioeconomic position on the serum uric acid level in asymptomatic hyperuricaemia patients in China: A structural equation model
The findings indicate a low level of health literacy among patients with AHU and suggest that health literacy might play a mediating role in the relationship between SEP and SUA levels. Consequently, future initiatives are recommended to prioritize health literacy and devise appropriate intervention strategies to enhance the self-management capabilities of patients with AHU
