Sarah E Tom, Rebecca A Hubbard et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2015•Cited by: 4•References: 26

Objectives. We estimated dementia incidence rates, life expectancies with and without dementia, and percentage of total life expectancy without dementia. Methods. We studied 3605 members of Group Health (Seattle, WA) aged 65 years or older who did not have dementia at enrollment to the Adult Changes in Thought study between 1994 and 2008. We estimated incidence rates of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, as well as life expectancies with and witho…

One of the world's natural wonders, the Great Barrier Reef stretches more than 2000 kilometres in a maze of coral reefs and islands along Australia's north-eastern coastline. Now unfolding the fascinating story behind its mystique this 2002 book provides for the first time a comprehensive cultural and ecological history of European impact, from early voyages of discovery to developments in Reef science and management. Incisive and a delight to re…

  • A comparison of maximum likelihood with method of moment procedures for separating individual and group effects

John Bowen, James Bowen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality and Social…•1990•Cited by: 1

Monte Carlo simulations were used to compare the Kenny and La Voie (1985) method for separating individual and group effects with a maximum likelihood estimator. Maximum likelihood estimates cannot be out of bounds; that is, sample coefficients of correlation cannot be less than −1 or larger than +1. The Kenny and La Voie estimator yielded sample correlations greater than 200. The 2 methods were shown to be similar in bias. Overall, the maximum l…

  • Discussants' Reactions

George W Ferree, John Bowen et al.•ARTICLE•History of Education Quarterly•1962•References: 1

The past few years have been particularly troublesome for the American people, not the least of the worries being a concern with the Russian challenge to the American way of life. The incredible successes of the Russians in orbiting satellites and exploding nuclear weapons has been both a disturbing and a sobering thought to the United States, long secure in its isolation and power, and in the belief that it was the best society on earth. More th…
