Gender Noncomforming Practices and Identities in Japanese History and the Emergence of New Transgender Identities in the 21st Century
이 논문에서는 일본의 젠더비순응(gender nonconformity) 실천과 정체성의 역사적 변화와 21세기에 새로 등장한 ‘성주체 성장애’와 ‘트랜스젠더’ 정체성과 실천을 비교분석한다. 전후부터 1990년대 후반까지 젠더비순응적 실천과 재현은 예능, 유흥이나 성매매라는 맥락에서 근대 이전과 일정한 연속성을 띠면서 나타난다. MtF(Male to Female)가 과다대표되며, 여성적 젠더표현은 남성동성애라는 섹슈얼리티와 혼동되었다. 이로 인해 젠더비순응자는 일상과 괴리되어 주류사회 바깥에 있는 존재라는 고정관념과 낙인을 형성하게 된다. 한편 1990년대 후 반에 부 상한 성 주체성장애 담론은 섹 슈얼리티와 분 절된 비규범적 성 별정체성을 강조한다.
