  • Short-term effects of ambient air pollution on musculoskeletal diseases in Yangzhou during 2019–2022

Open Access•Hu Zhang, Bing Wang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

Our findings indicated that short-term exposure to ambient air pollutants may elevate the risk of MDs, with particular attention warranted to the health impacts of SO 2 and O 3 emissions in urban areas. In addition, the heavy metals in PM 2.5 exerted negative relationship with the risks of MDs, which provided the new sights of the protective role of heavy metals against bone disease

  • Identification of biomarkers related to iron death in diabetic kidney disease based on machine learning algorithms

Open Access•Wen Xiong, Hongxia Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2025

This study successfully identified diagnosis-related ferroptosis genes in DKD and constructed an accurate diagnostic model. These findings enhance our understanding of the role of ferroptosis in DKD and may contribute to the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches

  • Can participating in standards development improve enterprise performance? Evidence from China’s high-tech industry

Open Access•Wen Xiong, Simeng Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Infrastructure Policy…•2023

As an important type of knowledge, standards are key factors in economic development and technological innovation. To analyze the impact of participation in standards development on enterprise performance, this study takes China’s high-tech industry as an example. We use the operating data of listed enterprises in the industry in 2019 and conduct the propensity score matching method matching analysis on the entire sample and the classification. T…

  • Exploring the Characteristics of CO2 Emissions Embodied in International Trade and the Fair Share of Responsibility

Open Access•Yongbin Zhu, Yajuan Shi et al.•ARTICLE•Ecological Economics•2018

  • Traditional grain alcohol (bai jiu, 白酒) production and use in rural central China

Open Access•Ling Qian, Ian M Newman et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2015

Production, sale, and use of traditional bai jiu occurred within the context of local traditions, values, customs, and social networks. The data did not suggest any significant issues related to contamination. Drinking patterns were similar to those found in other studies of alcohol use in China. Bai jiu was sold mainly to middle-aged or older men, suggesting bai jiu production and use could gradually disappear without intervention

  • Spatio-Temporal Distribution Patterns in Environmental Factors, Chlorophyll-a and Microcystins in a Large Shallow Lake, Lake Taihu, China

Open Access•Rui Ye, Kun Shan et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014

The spatio-temporal distribution of environmental factors, chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), and microcystins (MCs) in a shallow lake, Lake Taihu (China), were investigated from 2009 to 2011 on a monthly basis at nine sampling stations. The annual mean concentration ranges of total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), Chl-a, MC-LR and MC-RR were 0.17-10.53 mg/L, 0.027-0.581 mg/L, 0.10-129.75 μg/L, 0.013-2.019 μg/L and 0.002-0.794 μg/L, respectively. The av…

  • A UPLC–MS/MS method for in vivo and in vitro pharmacokinetic studies of psoralenoside, isopsoralenoside, psoralen and isopsoralen from Psoralea corylifolia extract

    Open Access•Yuefei Wang, Yue-Fei Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2014
