  • Knowledge, attitude and practice of patients and their family members regarding age-related macular degeneration

Open Access•He Zou, Danfeng Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Introduction: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of irreversible vision loss among the older adults, and understanding the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of patients and their family members is essential for improving disease management and patient education. This study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and their family members. M…

  • Pedestrian Trajectory Prediction Based on Delaunay Triangulation and Density-Adaptive Higher-Order Graph Convolutional Network

Open Access•Lei Chen, Jiajia Li et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2026

Pedestrian trajectory prediction plays a vital role in autonomous driving and intelligent surveillance systems. Graph neural networks (GNNs) have shown remarkable effectiveness in this task by explicitly modeling social interactions among pedestrians. However, existing methods suffer from two key limitations. First, they face difficulty in balancing the reduction in redundant connections with the preservation of critical interaction relationships…

  • Is Yuan (缘) a form of certain love in the face of uncertainty? Chinese users’ sociotechnical imaginaries of matching in mobile dating apps

Le Chang, Jun Xiao et al.•ARTICLE•Chinese Journal of Communication•2025

This study explores how the traditional Chinese concept of yuan (缘) is integrated into sociotechnical imaginaries to shape Chinese users’ experiences with mobile dating apps. Drawing on an 11-month netnography study of the Soul app, this study finds that yuan is viewed not merely as a predestined or serendipitous force but as a cultural imaginary that dialectically combines elements of fate and personal agency. Users reinterpret yuan as an intera…

  • Social media use, perceived social support, and well-being

Open Access•Zhanwei Yue, Renwen Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social and Personal…•2024•Cited by: 7•References: 56

Numerous studies have suggested that active social media use can promote well-being by enhancing perceived social support. However, the relationship between social media use and perceived social support remains inconsistent across studies. This study explores possible mechanisms underlying the relationship between active social media use, perceived social support, and well-being during and after a COVID-19 lockdown. Using online surveys with Chin…

  • A guiding methodology for “urban physical examination”

Open Access•Hongman He, Yitian Ren et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2023

Fast urbanisation development has brought rampant sprawl of cities, where various urban diseases have been emerging. Therefore, how to effectively understand the health status of a city, diagnose root causes of urban diseases, and implement proper policy measures and effective actions to address these diseases have become critical issues for achieving urban sustainability. Via regarding city as an organic system, from the perspective of sustainab…

  • Social media use, psychological well-being and physical health during lockdown

    Zhanwei Yue, D S Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Information Communication & Society•2023

In efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, many countries have implemented a variety of lockdown and quarantine measures. With substantially reduced face-to-face interactions, many people may have relied heavily on social media for connection, information, and entertainment. However, little is known about the psychological and physical health implications of social media use during strict lockdown. The current study investigates the associations …

  • Visual impairment and blindness caused by retinal diseases

Open Access•Chuandi Zhou, Shu Li et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2023

Background: Retinal disorders cause substantial visual burden globally. Accurate estimates of the vision loss due to retinal diseases are pivotal to inform optimal eye health care planning and allocation of medical resources. The purpose of this study is to describe the proportion of visual impairment and blindness caused by major retinal diseases in China. Methods: A nationwide register-based study of vitreoretinal disease covering all 31 provin…

  • Prevalence of sexual dysfunction and its association with psychological symptoms in drug-naive major depressive disorder patients in West China

Open Access•Fugui Jiang, Zenghui Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2023

The study highlights a significant gender difference in the prevalence of sexual dysfunction among MDD patients, with females being more susceptible than males. There is a positive correlation between the severity of depression and sexual dysfunction in both genders. Interestingly, male MDD patients demonstrated a potential protective effect of hostility against sexual dysfunction, which was not observed in female patients

  • Passive social media use and psychological well-being during the Covid-19 pandemic

Open Access•Zhanwei Yue, Renwen Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Computers in Human Behavior•2022

  • Autoimmune Encephalitis With Psychotic Manifestations and Cognitive Impairment Presenting as Schizophrenia

Open Access•Yuanyuan Luo, Jieying Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Autoimmune encephalitis is characterized by mental and behavioral symptoms, seizures, and cognitive impairment. The presence of schizophrenia needs to be distinguished from that of autoimmune encephalitis. Herein, we describe the case of a woman who exhibited abnormal mental behavior and cognitive impairment. The patient had experienced similar symptoms more than 20 years previously and had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. The patient's psychot…

  • What makes learners a good fit for hybrid learning? Learning competences as predictors of experience and satisfaction in hybrid learning space

    Open Access•Jun Xiao, Hong‐Zheng Sun‐Lin et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Educational…•2020

Compared with fully face‐to‐face or online learning environments, implementation of hybrid learning spaces is costly given the spaces making all learning options available for learners. Therefore, decisions on investments in hybrid learning are critical for institutions. Satisfaction and experience of learners is one of the important indicators for assessing the cost‐effectiveness of learning space implementation; thus, predictions of learners' s…

  • Anthropomorphic Agents as a User Interface Paradigm

Richard Catrambone, John Stasko et al.•CHAPTER•Proceedings of the Twenty-Fourth…•2019

Research on anthropomorphic agent interfaces has produced widely divergent results. We suggest that this is due to insufficient consideration of key factors that influence the perception and effectiveness of agent-based interfaces. We propose a framework for studying anthropomorphic agents that can systematize the research. The framework emphasizes features of the agent, the user, and the task the user is performing. Our initial experiment within…

  • Daly-Based Health Risk Assessment of Construction Noise in Beijing, China

Open Access•Jun Xiao, Xiaodong Li et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2016

Noise produced by construction activities has become the second most serious acoustic polluting element in China. To provide industry practitioners with a better understanding of the health risks of construction noise and to aid in creating environmentally friendly construction plans during early construction stages, we developed a quantitative model to assess the health impairment risks (HIA) associated with construction noise for individuals li…

  • Assessment of Ecological and Human Health Risks of Heavy Metal Contamination in Agriculture Soils Disturbed by Pipeline Construction

Open Access•Peng Shi, Jun Xiao et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014

The construction of large-scale infrastructures such as nature gas/oil pipelines involves extensive disturbance to regional ecosystems. Few studies have documented the soil degradation and heavy metal contamination caused by pipeline construction. In this study, chromium (Cr), cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn) levels were evaluated using Index of Geo-accumulation (Igeo) and Potential Ecological Risk Index (RI) values…
