Open Access•Aurélia Desplain, Frédérique Chlous et al.•ARTICLE•In Situ•2025

    Open Access•Romain Julliard•ARTICLE•Natures Sciences Sociétés•2017

  • Historical evidence for nature disconnection in a 70-year time series of Disney animated films

Open Access•Anne-Caroline Prevot-Julliard, Romain Julliard et al.•ARTICLE•Public Understanding of Science•2015

The assumed ongoing disconnection between humans and nature in Western societies represents a profoundly challenging conservation issue. Here, we demonstrate one manifestation of this nature disconnection, via an examination of the representation of natural settings in a 70-year time series of Disney animated films. We found that natural settings are increasingly less present as a representation of outdoor environments in these films. Moreover, t…

  • Enhancing citizen contributions to biodiversity science and public policy

Denis Couvet, Frédéric Jiguet et al.•ARTICLE•Interdisciplinary Science Reviews•2008•Cited by: 13•References: 2

Citizen science, defined as participation of the general public in scientific research, could significantly help scientists to address biodiversity issues, through (i) monitoring the state of biodiversity, (ii) framing indicators which synthesise and communicate information on the state of biodiversity, (iii) building scenarios to evaluate the plausible consequences of different policies. A key asset of citizen science is that participating citiz…
