  • Age at menopause and risk of sarcopenia in postmenopausal women

Open Access•Yachai Li, Liang Qin et al.•ARTICLE•Reproductive Health•2026

BACKGROUND: Menopausal age is closely associated with women's health, but research on its association with sarcopenia risk remains insufficient. Our study aimed to explore how menopausal age affects the risk of sarcopenia in postmenopausal women. METHODS: Based on the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) database, we included 3,410 postmenopausal women from 2011-2015. Participants were divided into five groups according to meno…

  • Investigating the decoupling effects between global sustainable development and multi-disaster crises

Open Access•Yinshuai Li, Tianhui Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2025

Various disasters pose significant challenges to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting the urgent need for research on global sustainability resilience under multi-disaster crises. This study analyzed the spatiotemporal evolution of disaster frequency, losses, and sustainable development performance from 2000 to 2022. On this basis, we examined the differences in sustainable development under overlapping disaster types …

  • When and How Artificial Intelligence Augments Employee Creativity

Ning Jia, Nan Jia et al.•ARTICLE•Academy of Management Journal•2024

Can artificial intelligence (AI) assist human employees in increasing employee creativity? Drawing on research on AI–human collaboration, job design, and employee creativity, we examine AI assistance in the form of a sequential division of labor within organizations: in a task, AI handles the initial portion, which is well-codified and repetitive, and employees focus on the subsequent portion, involving higher-level problem-solving. First, we pro…

  • Change Detection and Incremental Updates for Multi-Source Road Networks Considering Topological Consistency

Open Access•Xiaodong Wang, Dongbao Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2024

Vector road networks are vital components of intelligent transportation systems and electronic navigation maps. There is a pressing need for efficient and rapid dynamic updates for road network data. In this paper, we propose a series of methods designed specifically for geometric change detection and the topological consistency updating of multi-source vector road networks without relying on complicated road network matching. For geometric chang…

  • Enhancing social vulnerability assessment with energy resilience

Open Access•Wen Song, Wen D Song et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2024

A comprehensive vulnerability assessment is a scientific basis for the realization of the United Nations' sustainable development goals. Energy resilience plays a crucial role in mitigating social vulnerability due to disaster shocks. Often, energy infrastructure and services collapse after disasters. The recent Russia-Ukraine war has exacerbated Europe's energy crisis and social vulnerabilities, making it even more urgent to add energy resilienc…

  • Loop-mediated isothermal amplification combined with lateral flow biosensor for rapid and sensitive detection of monkeypox virus

Open Access•Xiaolan Huang, Fei Xiao et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

The ongoing outbreak of the monkeypox, caused by monkeypox virus (MPXV), has been a public health emergency of international concern, indicating an urgent need for rapid and sensitive MPXV detection. Here, we designed a diagnostic test based on loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and nanoparticle-based lateral flow biosensor(LFB)for diagnosis of MPXV infection, termed MPX-LAMP-LFB. A set of six LAMP primers was designed based the ATI ge…

  • Quantitatively distinguishing the impact of solar photovoltaics programs on vegetation in dryland using satellite imagery

Open Access•Zilong Xia, Yingjie Li et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2023

Global drylands are experiencing booming development of centralized photovoltaics (PV), which aims to address the dual challenges posed by climate change and energy transformation. In dryland areas with large‐scale deployment of solar PV infrastructure, vegetation was reported to experience drastic changes. However, the long‐term dynamic changes and driving mechanisms have not been thoroughly studied yet. Quantitatively distinguishing the disturb…

  • Transboundary flows in the metacoupled Anthropocene

Open Access•Yingjie Li, Nan Jia et al.•ARTICLE•Conservation Ecology•2023•Citada por: 3

The world has become increasingly metacoupled through flows of materials, energy, people, capital, and information within and across systems. Transboundary flows, connecting adjacent and distant systems, are deemed the most critical indicators for measuring the intensity of interactions among coupled human-natural systems. To advance metacoupling flow research and governance, we make the first attempt to develop a typology of transboundary flows …

  • Modeling and Risk Analysis of Chemical Terrorist Attacks

Open Access•Rongchen Zhu, Xiaofeng Hu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

The chemical terrorist attack is an unconventional form of terrorism with vast scope of influence, strong concealment, high technical means and severe consequences. Chemical terrorism risk refers to the uncertainty of the effects of terrorist organisations using toxic industrial chemicals/drugs and classic chemical weapons to attack the population. There are multiple risk factors infecting chemical terrorism risk, such as the threat degree of ter…

  • Perfection of the Taxation System for Private Education on the Basis of a Binary Structure

Open Access•Suping Shen, Shen Suping et al.•ARTICLE•Chinese Education & Society•2019

Given that private schools are institutionally divided into the binary structure of for profit and nonprofit, the existing tax laws and policies aimed at private education feature obvious flaws. Reforms to the taxation system for private education should bring it in line with the state’s binary structure for the division of private schools, highlighting the charitable nature of private education, and instituting a more refined and scientific taxa…

  • Perverse Complementarity

Yuen Yuen Ang, Ning Jia et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Politics•2014•Citada por: 29•Referencias: 36

Using survey data of over 3,900 private firms in China, we examine whether—and how—political connections promote or undermine the use of formal legal institutions. We find that politically connected firms are more inclined than nonconnected firms to use courts over informal avenues of dispute resolution. Furthermore, by comparing the effects of political connections on dispute-resolution patterns across regional institutional environments, we fin…

  • Precipitation in the Yellow River drainage basin and East Asian monsoon strength on a decadal time scale

Open Access•Xin Zhou, LIGUANG SUN et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2012

Paleomonsoon strength is difficult to reconstruct. The strength of the East Asian monsoon and precipitation over large areas correlate well on a decadal time scale. Thus, monsoon strength can be reconstructed through proxies of sediments originating from large areas. In the present study, we investigated the characteristics of a sediment core from the Northern Yellow Sea Mud. The results showed that sedimentary characteristics are mainly controll…

  • Desiccation cracks in Zhoushan Archipelago, East China Sea, developed during Heinrich event 3

Open Access•Nan Jia, Yuhong Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2012

Large desiccation cracks were discovered in the intertidal zone of Zhoushan archipelago, East China Sea. Radiocarbon dating showed that desiccation cracks were formed around 31.2–30.4 cal ka BP. Palynological, mineralogical, and elemental geochemical analyses indicated that the cracks were formed as the result of an abrupt climate shift event. The climate changed from warm and humid, to cold and arid, and back to warm and humid again. This climat…
