Daniel Bell was an American journalist and sociologist. He argued that the age of ideology had ended in The End of Ideology: On the Exhaustion of Political Ideas in the Fifties and forecast a postindustrial society characterized by, inter alia, the rise of the service economy in The Coming of Post‐Industrial Society: A Venture in Social Forecasting . Bell was one of the most prominent sociologists of the post‐World War II period. Connections have…

Temporality, Peace Initiatives and Palestinian-Israeli Politics
In this paper I use a Foucault-inspired framework to study the function and performance of temporality in the discourse of Palestinian-Israeli politics. I argue that Palestinians are constituted as being without time. They are not with time; not with a past, or a future. Phrased differently, temporality is performed in the discourse of Palestinian-Israeli politics such that Palestinians are denied a position in time, they are only ever of a time,…
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions campaign: Contradictions and Challenges
This article analyses the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel. First, it adumbrates the emergence and emphases of the BDS campaign. Then, it explains the BDS tactics, particularly the boycott measure. Next, it highlights some of the contradictions surrounding the campaign. The article closes by identifying the campaign's power and promise in its transgression of limits of the discourse of Palestinian-Israeli politics. Mor…
Heuristic Transfer in the Relationship Between Leadership and Employee Creativity
Prior research has revealed as many as 12 leadership constructs that influence employee creativity by affecting intrinsic motivation. However, little research has explored how leaders might improve employee creativity by directly enhancing creative ability. In this article, we explore the confluence of three streams of research to establish theory supporting leader heuristic transfer (LHT) as a potential influence on employee creativity. LHT is d…
The Discourse of Palestinian-Israeli Relations: Persistent Analytics and Practices
Many observers have portrayed the Oslo Process as a milestone in the peacemaking process between Palestinians and Israelis. In this controversial and groundbreaking new work, McMahon challenges the interpretation of the Oslo Process as a breakthrough or new beginning in Palestinian-Israeli relations. He argues that the Oslo Process affected no discursive or non-discursive change and that the Oslo Process in fact institutionalized the analytics pr…
Massacre of the Doves: Interpreting Israel's 2003 Elections
This article argues that Israel's 2003 elections are best understood as a deeper embedding of neoliberalism in the Israeli polity. It is argued that the most accurate characterization of the elections is as an articulation of Polanyi's Phase I of the double-movement. The argument is developed in four stages. First, the Israeli elections are understood as a local reaction to the multilayered processes of globalization. The Israeli state and its el…

John Ray (1627-1705) and the Act of Uniformity 1662
John Ray was one of the most influential British natural philosophers of the 17th century. His model of natural history served as an organizing principle for the philosophic understanding of living nature and his works on natural theology were seminal. Many modern historians have placed Ray within the Puritan tradition, primarily based on Ray's choice, as an ordained Anglican priest, to leave his fellowship at Cambridge rather than subscribe to t…
