Applying The Semistandardized Regression Coefficient To Factor, Canonical, And Path Analysis
The semistandardized (SS) regression coefficient is applied to factor, canonical and path analysis. The SS regression coefficient is interpreted as: if the standardized independent factor, canonical variate, or variable increases one standard deviation unit, then the dependent indicator y will increase by b' yzx units. The SS coefficient provides information not given by the conventional standardized regression coefficients used in factor, canoni…
Coefficients of Association Analogous to Pearson's r for nonparametric Statistics
The r z and r p coefficients of association are discussed. Both coefficients, like Pearson's r, are based on a z/z max framework. They yield coefficients directly comparable for all levels of measurement being based on an obtained/maximum departure from independence in z units interpretation. The r z coefficient can be applied to any nonparametric test statistic in which a normal approximation equation is appropriate. The r p coefficient is appli…
Quantitative Coefficients for Selecting a Measure of Central Location
Alternatives to Goodman and Kruskal's Lambda
Lambda and kappa coefficients of nominal scale association are developed for research hypotheses that involve predictions of modality, agreement, or some theoretically specified configuration. The κ λ coefficient is offered as an alternative to Goodman and Kruskal's λ
The Impact of Population Growth on the Economy of Countries
A Measure of Association for Nonparametric Statistics
The Semistandardized Regression Coefficient
The semistandardized regression coefficient is presented for combining unstandardized and standardized variables into a single regression equation. Equations, interpretations, and an example are given for applying the coefficients to multivariate data

Group Size and Societal Conflict
A number of studies dealing with subunits and total organizations have confirmed the relationship between large group size and increase in conflict and disputes together with decrease in morale, cohesiveness, and consensus. The question arises: Are the theoretical implications, empirical findings, and hypotheses for subgroups and total organizations generalizable to larger social systems? The size-conflict hypothesis is examined in relationship t…

Evaluating the degree of dependence for a set of correlations
Evaluating the degree of dependence for a set of correlations
A Solution to the Problems Raised in Acock's Article on Lambda
Observations on the K Measure of Association
Berry and his associates presented a new nominal level measure of association K, that is useful for statistically evaluating research hypotheses applied to a 2 × 2 contingency table. We have added shortcut computational equations for K along with an alternative interpretation. Limitations of K are noted, including specified logical relations being in part a function of the marginal configuration and the lack of the property of invariance. Two new…
