  • From Forest Struggles to Forest Citizens? Joint Forest Management in the Unquiet Woods of India's Jharkhand

    Open Access•Stuart Corbridge, Corbridge et al.•ARTICLE•Environment and Planning A…•1997•Cited by: 7•References: 9

The government of India has embraced joint forest management as a key strategy for dealing with forest degradation and forest employment issues in the 1990s. • Marxisms, Modernities, and Moralities

    Open Access•Stuart Corbridge, Corbridge•ARTICLE•Environment and Planning D…•1993•Cited by: 96•References: 35

Development studies have sometimes been presented as a set of social practices which are concerned with helping or changing peoples and places in the Third World-a noble ambition, it used to be thought, but one now widely condemned as elitist, ethnocentric, and dirigiste. Modernisation theories have not been alone in attracting such criticism, Marxist development studies have also reached an impasse, and confidence in their supposed metanarrative…

  • The US Trade and Budget Deficits in Global Perspective

    Open Access•Stuart Corbridge, Corbridge et al.•ARTICLE•Environment and Planning D…•1991•Cited by: 30•References: 27

The disturbances in the global economy induced by the US trade and budget deficits are widely recognised by economists, even if the precise causes and effects of these deficits remain a topic of debate, What is less widely understood is that the deficits are pregnant with geographical implications for the world economy and that the production of the deficits can be explained in part by the changing and asymmetrical location of the USA in internat…
