Associations of frailty with the incidence and progression trajectory of cardiometabolic-kidney multimorbidity
Background: The American Heart Association recently introduced the cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic concept, but the impacts of frailty status on the disease trajectories remain unknown. We aimed to investigate the role of frailty status in the trajectories from being free of cardiometabolic-kidney disease (CMKD) to first CMKD (FCMKD), then to cardiometabolic-kidney multimorbidity (CMKM), and finally to death. Methods: In this prospective cohort s…
A quantitative analysis of translators of Buddhist sutras into Chinese
This study examines translators of Buddhist sutras into Chinese in ancient China from a collective and structural perspective. Drawing on the Statistics of Sutra Translations by Translators Throughout the Dynasties (歷代譯師譯經數量統計), a quantitative dataset compiled in the Encyclopedia of Buddhist Canon (內典百科), it moves beyond biographical or dynasty-centered approaches to analyze the synchronic and diachronic composition of translator communities. Usi…

The impact of widowhood on the mental health of older adults and the buffering effect of social capital
Background: Widowhood is one of the most serious issues affecting the mental health of older persons. China currently has tens of millions of widowed older adult, which is a huge group. It is of great significance to study the impacts of widowhood on their mental health and put forward some measures for improvement. Method: We used China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) data in 2020, which included 4,184 older adults. Linear regression is used to exam…
Prediction of Parking Space Availability Using Improved MAT-LSTM Network
The prediction of parking space availability plays a crucial role in information systems providing parking guidance. However, controversy persists regarding the efficiency and accuracy of mainstream time series prediction methods, such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and recurrent neural networks (RNNs). In this study, a comparison was made between a temporal convolutional network (TCN) based on CNNs and a long short-term memory (LSTM) ne…

Product Quality Matching Strategy in a Dual-Channel Supply Chain
We extend the mental accounting perspective to build models on product quality matching strategy, which is effective in resolving the conflict between traditional and online channels. We consider that perceived values of high-quality and low-quality products belong to different mental accounts, and construct three product quality matching strategies for a dual-channel supply chain. Comparing the profit of each member, we find that (1) the strateg…
A study of the anti-poverty effect of minimum wage in underdeveloped areas
The minimum wage can play an active role in anti-poverty. The theoretical analysis and simulation find that a higher minimum wage can increase farmers’ employment intention and income, and has a more obvious effect on low-income farmers. Statistics from questionnaire surveys in three districts in the western China show that a higher minimum wage will promote farmers who leave behind in hometown to work in local enterprises. The minimum wage has b…

The Reduction of Credit Risk in the Health Care Industry in China
This study aims to evaluate the changes in the credit risk of the health care industry in China due to the COVID-19 epidemic by the modified KMV (named by Kealhofer, Mcquown, and Vasicek) model to calculate the default distances. We observe that the overall default distance mainly first decreased and then increased before and after the COVID-19 epidemic control in China; after the epidemic was controlled, the overall credit risk was reduced by 22…
Accounting Transparency, Fear Sentiment and the Covid-19 Epidemic
A central issue of public health security and the construction of an early warning system is to establish a set of responsibility-oriented incentives and restraint mechanisms. This is closely related to the accounting transparency of the institutional environment and the fear sentiment of the individual's predicament. This study analyses the relationship between accounting transparency, fear sentiment, and COVID-19 through a VAR model analysis. T…

Driving green bond market through energy prices, gold prices and green energy stocks
One of the most controversial concerns among the researchers is the expansion of the green bond markets, so as to reduce environmental pollution. The present study estimates the factors that help drive the global green bond markets, such as energy prices, gold prices, and green energy stocks. The study has applied Quantile Autoregressive Lagged Approach (QARDL) and Quantile Granger Causality test to estimate the causal relationship among the vari…
Self-stereotyping and self-anchoring affect social identification
Self-stereotyping and self-anchoring are two important cognitive pathways that facilitate individuals' social identification. We applied the integrative model of social identification to examine the effects of these cognitive pathways on social identification of 325 Chinese undergraduate students, and further explored whether self-esteem as an individual factor plays a moderating role in this relationship. Participants were randomly assigned to o…
Global, Regional, and National Death, and Disability-Adjusted Life-Years (Dalys) for Cardiovascular Disease in 2017 and Trends and Risk Analysis From 1990 to 2017 Using the Global Burden of Disease St…
Background: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide and a major barrier to sustainable human development. The objective of this study was to evaluate the global, sex, age, region, and country-related cardiovascular disease (CVD) burden, as well as the trends, risk factors, and implications for the prevention of CVD. Methods: Detailed information from 1990 to 2017, including global, regional, and national rates of CVD, and 1…
Anxiety Level During the Second Localized Covid-19 Pandemic Among Quarantined Infertile Women
Infertility usually causes mental health problems for patients and unfavorable emotions such as anxiety and depression can have an adverse effect on women's normal pregnancy. We aimed to compare the anxiety level between infertile female patients in quarantined and non-quarantined areas during the second wave of COVID-19 epidemic. A total of 759 infertile women were included in this cross-sectional study conducted through an online survey. Anxiet…

Effects of gender stereotypes on performance in mathematics
We aimed to determine how gender stereotypes about mathematics affect high school students' performance in this subject through examining the multiple mediating roles of competence belief, type of achievement goal, and effort. Chinese high school students ( N = 267) completed measures to assess their gender stereotypes, competence belief, achievement goals, effort, and performance in mathematics. The results of a serial multivariable mediation an…
A Multi-Scale Water Extraction Convolutional Neural Network (MWEN) Method for GaoFen-1 Remote Sensing Images
Automatic water body extraction method is important for monitoring floods, droughts, and water resources. In this study, a new semantic segmentation convolutional neural network named the multi-scale water extraction convolutional neural network (MWEN) is proposed to automatically extract water bodies from GaoFen-1 (GF-1) remote sensing images. Three convolutional neural networks for semantic segmentation (fully convolutional network (FCN), Unet,…
An Acceleration Based Fusion of Multiple Spatiotemporal Networks for Gait Phase Detection
Human-gait-phase-recognition is an important technology in the field of exoskeleton robot control and medical rehabilitation. Inertial sensors with accelerometers and gyroscopes are easy to wear, inexpensive and have great potential for analyzing gait dynamics. However, current deep-learning methods extract spatial and temporal features in isolation-while ignoring the inherent correlation in high-dimensional spaces-which limits the accuracy of a …
Field Study of the Interior Noise and Vibration of a Metro Vehicle Running on a Viaduct
The interior noise and vibration of metro vehicles have been the subject of increasing concern in recent years with the development of the urban metro systems. However, there still is a lack of experimental studies regarding the interior noise and vibration of metro vehicles. Therefore, overnight field experiments of the interior noise and vibration of a standard B-type metro train running on a viaduct were conducted on metro line 14 of Guangzhou…
