Spatiotemporal Heterogeneity in Runoff and Sediment Reduction by Vegetation Restoration Under Extreme Rainfall
In recent years, frequent extreme rainstorm events have increasingly emerged as the primary external driver of erosion in the Loess Plateau, while vegetation restoration combated the erosive energy of these extreme storms by mitigating rainfall runoff processes and reinforcing soil through erosion resistance. While previous studies have focused on runoff and sediment production processes on slopes with varying vegetation types, cover and spatial …

Investigating the relationships among peer moderation, cognitive engagement, and learning achievement in online discussion forums
Online discussion forums are an important component of communication and interactions between teachers and students. The success of online discussion forums depends largely on the e-moderating behavior of the students who are assigned the role of peer moderators. Their ability to facilitate meaningful discussions, encourage diverse perspectives, and keep the conversation on track is paramount to achieving group cognitive engagement and superior p…

Revisiting the globalisation-welfare state Nexus
A large amount of literature examines the effects of globalisation on the size of the welfare state. Unlike previous papers, this article studies globalisation’s effects on the quality of social welfare. For this purpose, we use the annual panel dataset of 169 countries from 1970 to 2018. The findings indicate that a higher level of globalisation leads to a higher quality of the welfare state. This evidence is valid when the countries are divided…
Labor protection and private firms’ exports
Using several micro-datasets and the difference-in-differences (DID) method, we attempt to study the effects of labor protection on private firms’ exports. We find that labor protection has enormous negative impacts on the exports of private firms. The impacts are more pronounced in cities with higher minimum wages and in more labor-intensive firms. The mechanism analysis shows that labor protection reduces the productivity of private firms and l…
On foreign-invested enterprises’ exit
We use the prefecture-level panel data and enterprise-level data of China's manufacturing enterprises from 2001 to 2009 to investigate the effects of economic development and minimum wage policy on foreign-invested enterprises' exit behavior. The increase of local minimum wage from the 25th percentile to the 75th percentile accounts for 20% of the average exit rate of foreign-invested manufacturing enterprises, while the local economic developmen…
Short-Term Trend Forecast of Different Traffic Pollutants in Minnesota Based on Spot Velocity Conversion
Because traffic pollution is a global problem, the prediction of traffic emissions and the analysis of their influencing factors is the key to adopting management and control measures to reduce traffic emissions. Hence, the evaluation of the actual level of traffic emissions has gained more interest. The Computer Program to calculate Emissions from Road Transport model (COPERT) is being downloaded by 100 users per month and is being used in a lar…
