Combat sports in virtual reality for rehabilitation and disability adaptation: A mini-review
This review examines the existing literature regarding the utilization of combat sports in virtual reality (VR) for disease rehabilitation and adaptive physical activity. A total of 18 studies were obtained from the Web of Science and Scopus databases. The results suggest that Boxing, the most studied combat sport in VR systems, has been primarily used to improve motor function and quality of life in patients with neurological conditions such as …
An analysis of the global, regional, and national burden of blindness and vision loss between 1990 and 2021: The findings of the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021
Objectives: To evaluate the global burden of blindness and vision loss (BVL) from 1990 to 2021 using a retrospective analysis of epidemiological data from Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study 2021 and to project trends over the next 15 years. Methods: This retrospective study analyzed data on years lived with disability (YLDs) and prevalence across 204 countries and territories. Trends over time were assessed using estimated annual percentage cha…
We Influence Each Other in Different Ways: A Dyadic Examination of TPB in Predicting Couple Tourists’ Revisit Intentions
Couples make joint decisions for their shared travels. However, how such decisions are made, i.e., how different perceptions among two individuals interact and influence one another’s decision-making remains less studied. Conventionally, tourists’ decision-making literature were driven by an individual perspective, assuming one person’s decision is made through his or her own perceptions, beliefs, emotions, and past experiences. Among the prevale…
Establishment of an inter-provincial compensation system for farmland protection in China: A framework from zoning-integrative transferable development rights
Effects of microplastic pollution on agricultural soil and crops based on a global meta‐analysis
Agricultural soil serves as a crucial reservoir for microplastics (MPs), necessitating an understanding of their global‐scale environmental impacts and potential risks that they pose to agricultural soil and crops. Little is known about the potential impact of MPs in agricultural soils, compared with MPs in aquatic sediments, especially their effects on crop traits. The purpose of our study was to explore whether different types, concentrations, …
Creating enhanced work environments for global virtual teams: Using CQ as the strongest link in the team
Purpose This study investigates how the maximum cultural intelligence (Max CQ) within a team – defined as the highest cultural intelligence level of an individual member – affects intra-team communication, conflict dynamics and, ultimately, team satisfaction and performance in global virtual teams (GVTs). Design/methodology/approach Utilizing quantitative research methods, this investigation draws on a dataset comprising 3,385 participants, which…

Trends and disparities in disease burden of age-related macular degeneration from 1990 to 2019: Results from the global burden of disease study 2019
Objectives: This study aims to estimate the trends and disparities in the worldwide burden for health of AMD, overall and by age, sex, socio-demographic index (SDI), region, and nation using prevalence and years lived with disability (YLDs) from Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study 2019. Methods: This retrospective study presents the prevalent AMD cases and YLDs from 1990-2019, as well as the age-standardized prevalence rate (ASPR) and age-standa…
Clean energy projects in Asian economies: Does FDI and stock market matter for sustainable development
The FDI and the stock market are the key sources of finance for clean energy projects to become a reality on a global level, and are considered significant drivers of green growth. Therefore, this study examines the effects of the FDI inflows and the stock market development on clean energy production in the top-FDI receiving countries. The data in this regard spans from the time period pertaining to the years 1991 to 2019. The empirical results …
The asymmetric effect of Covid-19 outbreak, commodities prices and policy uncertainty on financial development in China: Evidence from QARDL approach
COVID-19 epidemic has brought uncertainty to each sector of the global economy, including the financial sector. The widely spread disease has a drastic effect, which massively created health and financial crisis and virtually pushed the economy to the brink of recession. The study focused on the financial development of China during the COVID-19 pandemic and analyzed the long-term and short-term impact of COVID-19, oil prices, gold prices, and gl…
