Hannibal's Roman Campaign of 211 B. C
IT is well known that Polybius and Livy frequently disagree in their accounts of the Second Punic War, and it is further generally acknowledged that when they disagree Polybius is the more likely to be right. One such disagreement occurs in their description of Hannibal's march from Capua to Rome in 211 B. c., for Livy takes him straight up the Latin Way while Polybius leads him on a long detour through Samnium.
