Neurobehavioral Mechanisms Influencing the Association Between Generativity, the Desire to Promote Well-Being of Younger Generations, and Purpose in Life in Older Adults at Risk for Alzheimer’s Diseas…
These findings provide insight into how the brain supports complex social behavior and, separately, purpose in life in at-risk aging. Affectionate social support may be a putative target process to enhance purpose in life in older adults. This knowledge contributes to future developments of personalized interventions that promote healthy aging
The challenges of marine spatial planning in the Arctic
Marine spatial planning is increasingly used to manage the demands on marine areas, both spatially and temporally, where several different users may compete for resources or space, to ensure that development is as sustainable as possible. Diminishing sea-ice coverage in the Arctic will allow for potential increases in economic exploitation, and failure to plan for cross-sectoral management could have negative economic and environmental results. D…
Flats and Densities in England
Housing Densities and Consumer Choice
From 2001, the construction of flats and high-density developments increased in England and the building of houses declined. Does this indicate a change in taste or is it a result of government planning policies? In this paper, an analysis is made of the long-term effects of the policy of constraint which has existed for the past 50 years but the increase in density is identified as occurring primarily after new, revised, planning guidance was is…
Neuroanatomy of childhood disruptive behavior disorders
Our aims were to (1) examine possible neuroanatomical abnormalities associated with the Disruptive Behavior Disorders (DBDs) as a group and (2) assess neuroanatomical anomalies specific to each DBD (i.e., conduct disorder [CD] and oppositional defiant disorder). Cortical thickness analysis and voxel-based morphometry were analyzed in 47 8-year-old boys (22 DBDs with and without CD and/or ODD and 25 healthy controls) from Magnetic Resonance Imagin…

The Economy of an Agglomeration
The development of London over the last 30 years is discussed in the context of Chinitz's seminal paper on major US agglomerations. The optimism originally voiced in the 1960s over the future of major urban agglomerations has not been borne out by experience, for a variety of reasons, some purely economic and some the outcome of policy. Even relative to comparable major European cities, London did worse than would be expected given its industrial…

Notes on the Changing Relationship between Registered Unemployment and Notified Vacancies
It is well known that there was a noticeable upward shift in unemployment relative to vacancies starting in late 1966. A number of explanations for this shift have been put forward. It has variously been attributed to (i) people choosing to remain unemployed for longer periods because of the introduction of earnings-related unemployment benefit in September 1966 and the operation of the Redundancy Payments Act which came into effect in December 1…
