  • Salinity Transition in the Ostia Lagoon During the Roman Period: Assessing the Feasibility of Salt Exploitation

Open Access•Cécile Vittori, Pierre Carbonel et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2026•References: 44

This study examines long‐term salinity changes in the Ostia Lagoon between the 4th century cal BC and the 6th century cal AD , with emphasis on their implications for ancient salt production. Although Ostia's foundation is closely linked to the control of salt resources in the Tiber Delta, direct archaeological evidence of Roman‐period saltworks is scarce. To address this gap, this study combines micropalaeontological analysis of ostracod assembl…

  • Late Holocene Abrupt Changes in the Fluvial Dynamics of the Tiber Valley Catchment (Rome, Italy): An Impact of the 4.2 Event

Open Access•Fabrizio Marra, Carlo Rosa et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary•2025

In the present work, we investigate the post-glacial aggradation of three tributary valleys draining the left hydrographic basin of the Tiber River in central Rome: the Murcia, Caffarella, and Grottaperfetta valleys. We describe the Upper Pleistocene–Holocene stratigraphic record of the alluvial successions occurring in the Caffarella Valley through the core data collected in a dedicatedly performed 35 m deep borehole. We provide seven 14C age co…

  • Culturas o mundos?

    Open Access•Carlo Rosa•ARTICLE•Perfiles Educativos•2024•References: 16

    Open Access•Carlo Rosa•ARTICLE•Education Policy Analysis Archives•2021

    Open Access•Carlo Rosa•ARTICLE•Perfiles Educativos•2019•References: 4

Open Access•Andrea Carbonara, Simona Pannuzi et al.•ARTICLE•Mélanges de l École française de…•2018•Cited by: 1

  • Long‐Term Interactions between the Roman City of Ostia and Its Paleomeander, Tiber Delta, Italy

    Open Access•Ferréol Salomon, Jean‐philippe Goiran et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2016•Cited by: 6•References: 6

This study examines the long‐term interactions between the well‐known Roman city of Ostia and a river meander. Located at the mouth of the Tiber river, Ostia was a major harbor city that connected Rome to the Mediterranean Sea. Based on aerial photography and borehole analysis, the paleodynamics of the Fiume Morto's paleomeander are understood to be linked to the urban evolution of the city of Ostia. Four periods of evolution have been identified…

  • The Validity of the Event-study Approach: Evidence from the Impact of the Fed's Monetary Policy on US and Foreign Asset Prices

    Open Access•Carlo Rosa•ARTICLE•Economica•2011•References: 19

This paper documents the effects of changes in US monetary policy on asset prices in 51 countries to evaluate the validity of the event-study approach. We find that the event-study estimates contain a significant bias. However, this bias is fairly small and the ordinary least squares approach tends to outperform in an expected squared error sense the heteroscedasticity-based estimator for both small and large sample sizes. Hence in general the ev…

  • Talking Less and Moving the Market More: Evidence From the Ecb and the Fed

    Open Access•Carlo Rosa•ARTICLE•Scottish Journal of Political…•2010•Cited by: 2•References: 2

This paper examines and compares the communication strategies of the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank, and their effectiveness. First, we find that the surprise components of both monetary policy actions and statements have important but differing effects on asset prices, with unexpected communication having a much greater impact on longer‐term interest rates. Second, both the ECB and the Fed have proven to be equally successful in m…
