Much of this literature, whether supportive or critical of the president’s role, is divided on whether the president actually created and pursued a grand strategy. Moreover, much of the literature, …

A log-rolling, Irish-American politician, out to raise votes in the United States: Tip O’Neill and the Irish dimension of Anglo-American relations, 1977–1986
The Irish dimension of Anglo-American relations is a relatively marginalized aspect of the historiography of transatlantic studies. Historians have focused on the role of the Clinton administration in the Northern Ireland “peace process” but previous American contributions also warrant attention. As the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Thomas P. “Tip” O’Neill was one of the most prominent Irish-American politicians. This art…

They present empirical results from research undertaken in Belfast, in which a variety of techniques, including transportation modelling, hedonic analysis, a household survey, and stated-preference modelling, were used. Theory relating to density is discussed and applied to an inner-city redevelopment scheme. The evidence from the stated-preference analysis…
Out‐of‐Area Travel From Rural and Urban Counties: A Study of Ambulatory Care Sensitive Hospitalizations for New York State Residents
Rural patients who are admitted to hospitals outside their residence county or who travel great distances for hospitalization deprive local rural hospitals of revenue. To provide more information about such rural residents, we studied their characteristics compared to those admitted in the same county. House Prices and Accessibility: The Testing of Relationships within the Belfast Urban Area
The debate surrounding the sustainability of urban areas and the need to reduce dependency upon the car as the primary mode of transportation has rekindled interest in the relationship between accessibility, price and location of owner occupied housing. Traditionally, attempts at quantification have used hedonic analysis employing straight-line distance measurements to focal points such as the CBD as an indicator of accessibility. This paper focu…

The Preliminary World Conference on Faith and Order at Geneva
We have learnt to discard modes of expression that were intellectually and morally indefensible, and that is all to the good: we are legitimately suspicious of too great rigidity in theory, and of concentration upon anyone formula. But we have no cause to be ashamed if we go on to say that neither intellect nor conscience compels us to cut ourselves off from the faith which saw an objective Godward value in the Cross of Christ, and that the heart …
