The Association Between Child Maltreatment and Moral Disengagement
Moral disengagement is a psychological process that enables individuals to distance themselves from their moral standards and justify unethical behavior. A growing body of empirical evidence has documented associations between child maltreatment and elevated levels of moral disengagement. However, a substantial degree of inconsistency has been identified within the extant empirical literature regarding the magnitude of this relationship. This met…

Cross-cultural validation and reference norms for the DCDDaily-Q questionnaire Chinese version (DCDDaily-Q-CN)

Currently, there are no Chinese translations or growth references available. Thus, this study aimed to culturally adapt, validate, and establish reference norms for the DCDDaily-Q in Chinese children. Methods The origina…
How do outsourcing services affect agricultural eco-efficiency? Perspectives from farmland scale and technology substitution
In-depth research on whether the development of agricultural outsourcing services (AOS) can improve agricultural eco-efficiency (AEE) and the mechanisms underlying the impact of AOS on AEE is still lacking. This study uses micro survey data from Jiangxi Province in China in 2021 to explore the impact of AOS on AEE in terms of farmland scale management and agricultural technology substitution. The results indicate that AOS in general can effective…
The public that engages invisibly
Measurements of political polarization online have so far largely focused on visible traces accessible through platform APIs, neglecting invisible traces that are not recorded or otherwise unavailable to researchers, which can reveal key aspects of political engagement online. Our study addresses this gap by investigating the polarization measurement bias that arises when only visible engagement is analyzed, uncovering disparities at both the use…

A “broken egg” of U.S. Political Beliefs
Belief network analysis (BNA) has enabled major advances in the study of belief systems, capturing Converse’s understanding of the interdependence among multiple beliefs (i.e., constraint) more intuitively than many conventional statistics. However, BNA struggles with representing political divisions that follow a spatial logic, such as the “left–right” or “liberal-conservative” ideological divide. We argue that Response Item Networks (ResINs) ha…

Association between childhood maltreatment and empathy

Hoping for a Better Future during Covid-19
This paper explores the migration experiences, perceived COVID-19 impacts, and depression symptoms among Haitian migrants living in Santiago, Chile. Ninety-five participants from eight neighborhoods with a high density of Haitian migrants were recruited. Descriptive statistics, univariate analysis, and logistic regression analysis were conducted. Chi-squared tests were used to confirm univariate results. We found that 22% of participants had majo…
Interactive Governance Between and Within Governmental Levels and Functions
