Impact of tourism, natural resources, urbanization and globalization on load capacity factors in Asean Countries: Driscoll Kraay and quantile regression approaches
From Crisis to Recovery: Understanding the Impact of Covid-19 on Indonesian Employment Dynamics
This research analyzes the impact of the economic disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on Indonesia’s labor market by utilizing data from SAKERNAS, or the National Labor Force Survey, for 2020 and 2021. A logistic regression model is used to analyze the impact of sociodemographic factors, job-related variables, and the Kartu Prakerja (a pre-employment program focused on training and skill development) on unemployment, labor force participat…
The impact of tourism, urbanization, globalization, and renewable energy on carbon emissions: Testing the inverted N-shape environmental Kuznets curve
This research investigates the relationship between tourism, urbanization, renewable energy, and carbon (CO2) emissions in 77 countries between 2008 and 2019. Specifically, by applying a quantile regression approach, this study delves into the existence of an inverted N-shape curve in the connection between tourism and CO2 emissions while also considering the roles of global economic activities, as indicated by the flows of tourism, trade, and fo…
The Effect of Household Modernization on Married Women’s Empowerment in Indonesia
Poverty Dynamics in Indonesia: The Prevalence and Causes of Chronic Poverty
This study aims to determine the chronicity of poverty in Indonesia using the equally distributed equivalent (EDE) poverty gap method, tracking Indonesian households in 2007 and 2014. The results indicate that the largest component of poverty among households was chronic (77%). Compared to transient poverty, chronic poverty is more common across individuals. Unlike previous studies, we used data at the district level to measure the poverty line, …
The Link Between Occupations, Labor Force Participation of Married Women, and Household Technology in Indonesia
Although the effect differs among occupations, this study indicated that aside from socioeconomic variables, household technology relates to the labor force participation of married women in Indonesia. While the link between household technology and women’s labor force participation was analyzed, the research on the impact of household technology on women’s occupational choices in the labor market (e.g., white-collar, pink-collar, blue-collar job…
Criminality and Income Inequality in Indonesia
We investigate whether a nexus exists between income inequality and criminal activity in Indonesia. Additionally, we examine socioeconomic variables and potential links with criminal actions (i.e., crime rate, murder, rape, physical abuse, robbery, and fraud). We use the generalized method of moments (GMM) approach, employing data for 34 provinces in Indonesia over the period of 2010–2019. The results indicate that income inequality is associated…
Tourism Demand in Indonesia: Implications in a Post-Pandemic Period
This study uses an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model to investigate the role of incomes, relative price competitiveness, and substitution prices in tourism demand from Indonesia’s six largest countries of origin from 2007Q1 to 2019Q4. Income level, competitive prices, and substitution prices significantly impact the demand for tourism in Indonesia. Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Japan, and India are income elastic, signaling that touri…
Impacts and implications of a pandemic on tourism demand in Indonesia
This paper estimates the economic losses in Indonesia's tourism sector due to the COVID-19 pandemic using an Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Model (SARIMA). Additionally, an autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL) is employed to estimate the demand for tourism in Indonesia from the six largest inbound tourist countries, from 1989 to 2019. The results predict a decrease of nearly 16.65 million tourists and a potential loss of US$19.07…
