The Role of Fintech and the Shadow Economy in Advancing Sustainable Development Across G7 Countries: Evidence From MMQR Analysis
Achieving sustainable development requires balancing economic growth with environmental conservation, but the relationship between informal economic activities and emerging financial technologies in boosting green growth (GG) is not well understood. The current study identifies this gap by considering the impact of the shadow economy (SE) and financial technology named fintech (FT) on GG in G‐7 countries from 1996 to 2020. In contrast to previous…
Spatial distribution and predictors of stunting, wasting, and underweight among under-five children in Bangladesh
Bridging technology and health: A panel analysis of internet use, mobile subscriptions, and health spending in G7
Technology's impact on public health demands scrutiny, as health disparities persist even in G7 countries. The purpose of this study is to examine how Internet use, mobile subscriptions, GDP per capita, and health expenditure affect life expectancy, as well as to investigate correlations between these technical and socioeconomic variables and health outcomes. Panel data from 1997 to 2021 were used, and long-term correlations were examined using t…

Institutional analysis for scaling alternate wetting and drying for low-emissions rice production: Evidence from Bangladesh
This article provides a comprehensive institutional analysis to better understand the key conditions and incentives relevant for the uptake of alternate wetting and drying (AWD) – a climate-smart irrigation practice in Bangladesh. Practicing AWD in rice production can reduce water consumption by 30% and mitigate methane emissions by 30–70% without yield penalty. Primary research was conducted in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sherpur Division…
The Environmental Effects of Tourism: Analyzing the Impact of Tourism, Global Trade, Consumption Expenditure, Electricity, and Population on Environment in Leading Global Tourist Destinations
The study analysed the impact of tourism, trade, consumption expenditure, electricity usage, and population on carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) in leading tourist destinations. The study uses a panel dataset of 32 countries from different continents between 2001 and 2020 and applies the generalized method of moments (GMM) and Quantile Regression approaches. The results suggest that tourism (arrivals and revenues) can reduce environmental degradatio…
Prevalence and Determinants of Diarrhea, Fever, and Coexistence of Diarrhea and Fever in Children Under-Five in Bangladesh
Diarrhea and fever are prevalent childhood illnesses with potentially severe consequences, especially when they co-occur. This study investigates the prevalence and determinants of diarrhea, fever, and their coexistence among children under-five in Bangladesh. Data from the 2017-2018 Bangladesh Demography and Health Survey (BDHS) were analyzed using multivariable stepwise logistic regression with backward selection. This study found that 5.0% for…
Availability and readiness of health care facilities and their effects on under-five mortality in Bangladesh: Analysis of linked data
Background: Under-five mortality is unacceptably high in Bangladesh instead of governmental level efforts to reduce its prevalence over the years. Increased availability and accessibility to the health care facility and its services can play a significant role to reduce its occurrence. We explored the associations of several forms of child mortality with health facility level factors. Methods: The 2017-18 Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey …
Public Health Aspects of Climate Change Adaptation in Three Cities: A Qualitative Study
Climate change presents an unprecedented public health challenge as it has a great impact on population health outcomes across the global population. The key to addressing these health challenges is adaptation carried out in cities through collaboration between institutions, including public health ones. Through semi-structured interviews ( n = 16), this study investigated experiences and perceptions of what public health aspects are considered b…
Determinants of Utilization of Institutional Delivery Services in Zambia: An Analytical Cross-Sectional Study
Institutional delivery at birth is an important indicator of improvements in maternal health, which remains one of the targets of sustainable development goals intended to reduce the maternal mortality ratio. The purpose of the present study was to identify the determinants of utilization of institutional delivery in Zambia. A population-based cross-sectional study design was used to examine 9841 women aged 15-49 years from the 2018 Zambia Demogr…
Do work ability and life satisfaction matter for return to work? Predictive ability of the work ability index and life satisfaction questionnaire among women with long-term musculoskeletal pain
This study supports a relationship between work ability and RTW among women on sick leave for long-term neck/shoulder and/or back pain. The results indicate that the WAI, but not the LiSat-11, can discriminate between RTW and NRTW in the population under study. Although the discriminative ability of the WAI needs to be verified in new samples before it can be recommended for use in rehabilitation settings, we suggest that healthcare professionals…

Improving smallholder farmers’ gross margins and labor-use efficiency across a range of cropping systems in the Eastern Gangetic Plains
Factors related to work ability and well-being among women on sick leave due to long-term pain in the neck/shoulders and/or back: A cross-sectional study
The study suggests that the factors beliefs to be back at the same work, pain intensity and job strain are predictive of work ability. Moreover, the factors self-efficacy and depression seem to be predictive of well-being. The findings highlight factors that should be considered by health care professionals and policy-makers to guide attempts to reduce sick leave

Daily energy expenditure across the course of lactation among urban Bangladeshi women
Measures of energy intake of lactating women in developing countries show that intakes are often lower than those recommended by international bodies, while fat-mass losses are often substantially less than the 3-4 kg used in the calculations of recommendations, suggesting that physiological adaptation must be commonplace among such women. The cost of lactation may be met by reduction in energy expenditure, including reduced physical activity, as…
Theatre by the people, for the people and of the people: People's theatre and landless organizing in Bangladesh

It has evolved out of the direct experience of theatre workers and popular educators working in the field who have attempted to refine and shape their practice so that it serves the needs of a popular transformation. Through critiquing their work, attempting to overcome contradicti…
