Social networks, perceived social support, and HbA1c in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus in urban Ghana
Although family and household members were identified as important sources of social support for diabetes management, the ways in which they influence HbA1c control among Ghanaians require further investigation. Future studies can examine whether changes in social support over time, social support satisfaction, or other dimensions of social relationships improve T2DM outcomes in countries like Ghana
Individual-Level Cultural Factors and Use of Survey Response Styles Among Latino Survey Respondents

Existing survey research does not assess what men know or think about the procedure as a means of understanding why this is the case. We created and conducted an …
Discrimination and ethnic identity: Establishing directionality among Latino/a youth
Ethnic identity is a consistent predictor of positive youth adjustment, whereas discrimination has been associated with negative outcomes among Latino/a youth. Scholars have proposed associations between ethnic identity and discrimination; however, directionality of effects remains unclear. Addressing this gap, the current study examined the directional relationship between ethnic identity and discrimination and their effects on psychosocial func…
Using Qualitative Methods to Design a Culturally Appropriate Child Feeding Questionnaire for Low-Income, Latina Mothers
Interviewer effects in public health surveys
Interviewer effects can have a substantial impact on survey data and may be particularly operant in public health surveys, where respondents are likely to be queried about racial attitudes, sensitive behaviors and other topics prone to socially desirable responding. This paper defines interviewer effects, argues for the importance of measuring and controlling for interviewer effects in health surveys, provides advice about how to interpret resear…
