    Open Access•Phoebe V Moore, Peter Bloom et al.•ARTICLE•Globalizations•2026•References: 9

Digital transitions, involving the widespread adoption of biometric, algorithmic, and AI systems across public and private sectors, are often framed as inevitable and necessary for progress. However, these transitions are not neutral. They are shaped by coercive data extraction practices of digitalization, which consolidate corporate power, and reproduce colonial social relations. At the center of this process is the erosion of meaningful consent…

Open Access•José Nunes de Alencar, Francisca Rego et al.•ARTICLE•Philosophies•2025

Evidence-based medicine (EBM) supplies the best available data, yet clinicians still face low-value care, surrogate-driven reversals, and pseudoscientific claims. We propose Semi-Imperative Evidentialism (SIE), a normative framework that links evidential warrant to proportionate professional duties while preserving patient autonomy. Using a targeted narrative review in philosophy of science, bioethics, and clinical epidemiology, we distilled six …

  • Politics in the Middle: For a Political Interpretation of the Dualisms in Deleuze and Guattari

    Open Access•Rodrigo Nunes, Rodrigo dos Santos Nunes•ARTICLE•Deleuze Studies•2010•Cited by: 5•References: 2

The paper identifies three recent lines of interpretation of the politics that can be derived from Deleuze and Guattari, all of which share a way of reading the dualisms in their work that can be traced back to how they understand the actual/virtual partition, and to an alleged pre-eminence of the virtual over the actual. It is argued that this reading is not only inaccurate, but obscures the political dimension of Deleuze and Guattari's work. Cl…

  • Affective infrastructures and political organisation

    Open Access•Rodrigo Nunes•ARTICLE•Dialogues in Human Geography•2023•Cited by: 3

In this commentary on Kai Bosworth's ‘What Is “Affective Infrastructure”?’, I seek to address some of the issues that he raises about the notion by fleshing it out in relation to the problem of political organisation in general, and to the concrete case of Brazilian far-right politics in particular. This leads to conclusions about the concept's generality, its distinction from similar notions such as ‘affective conditions’, its criteria of indivi…

  • What the State of Nature Hath Joined Together: Bolsonarismo as Horizon and Machine

    Rodrigo Nunes, Rodrigo M Nunes•ARTICLE•South Atlantic Quarterly•2024•Cited by: 2•References: 4

Analyses of fascism often evoke an excessive tendency that pulls it beyond the very possibility of its normalization as a political order. This essay suggests that reading a phenomenon like Bolsonarismo through this prism simultaneously identifies something true about its vision and misrecognizes some key aspects of its organization and internal functioning. Attention to the latter-particularly the role played by what the author describes as "pol…

Rodrigo Nunes, Rodrigo Disconzi Nunes•ARTICLE•South Atlantic Quarterly•2013•References: 1

Against some voices coming from both the political mainstream and more radical quarters, this article argues for a political reading of the English riots of 2011 and, more broadly, for the need to recognize the subjectivation that participants in such events go through on its own terms, rather than as falling short of what one counts as a "properly" political act. To do so opens the question of how the traces (affective, subjective, perceptive) l…
