Application of ChatGPT-based blended medical teaching in clinical education of hepatobiliary surgery
Objective This study evaluates the effectiveness of incorporating the Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT) into the clinical teaching of hepatobiliary surgery for undergraduate medical students.Materials and methods A group of 61 medical undergraduates from the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University, undergoing hepatobiliary surgery training, were randomly assigned to either an experimental group (31 students) using ChatGP…
Associations of healthy lifestyle and family income to poverty ratio with all-cause mortality among people with prediabetes and diabetes: A prospective cohort study
Our findings highlight the importance of promoting adherence to a healthy lifestyle and improving PIR in prediabetic patients to reduce the risk of all-cause mortality, and the protective effect is more significant with more healthy lifestyles and higher PIR. This study can help clinicians and health systems develop more targeted treatments for people with different metabolic levels

Parental autonomy support effects on children’s school adjustment: The longitudinal mediating effect of executive function
This longitudinal study examined the association between parental autonomy support and school-aged children’s adjustment across four major domains of school functioning, as well as the mediating role of children’s executi... | Find, read and cite all the research you need on Tech Science Press
Study on the health risk of cyanuric acid in swimming pool water and its prevention and control measures
Cyanuric acid is a widely used fine chemical intermediate that acts as a free chlorine buffer in swimming pool water, wherein it is often used as a stabilizer to maintain the germicidal efficacy of chlorinated disinfectants. However, it has also been associated with health risks. Herein, we introduced the sources and functions of cyanuric acid in swimming pool water, focusing on potential health risks associated with excessive concentration of th…
Life-course fertility and multimorbidity among middle-aged and elderly women in China: Evidence from China health and retirement longitudinal study
Background: Multimorbidity has become an important public health problem in China, especially among middle-aged and elderly women. Few studies have been reported on the association between multimorbidity and female fertility, which is an important stage in the life course. This study aimed to explore the association between multimorbidity and fertility history among middle-aged and elderly women in China. Methods: Data from 10,182 middle-aged and…
Effects of Perfectionism on Work Engagement: A Motivation Perspective
Working from self-determination theory, this study explored the impact of selforiented perfectionism and socially prescribed perfectionism on work engagement, highlighting the roles of work meaningfulness and work stress as mediators in this relationship. Data from 278 employees working in Chinese companies showed that self-oriented perfectionism had a positive direct effect on work engagement, and a positive indirect effect on work engagement vi…
Physics-aware nonparametric regression models for Earth data analysis
Process understanding and modeling is at the core of scientific reasoning. Principled parametric and mechanistic modeling dominated science and engineering until the recent emergence of machine learning (ML). Despite great success in many areas, ML algorithms in the Earth and climate sciences, and more broadly in physical sciences, are not explicitly designed to be physically-consistent and may, therefore, violate the most basic laws of physics. …

Danlou tablet inhibits the inflammatory reaction of high-fat diet-induced atherosclerosis in ApoE knockout mice with myocardial ischemia via the NF-κB signaling pathway
Anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects of Dan-Lou tablets in the treatment of coronary heart disease revealed by metabolomics integrated with molecular mechanism studies
Secular trends of macrosomia in southeast China, 1994-2005
In southeast China, the incidence of macrosomia increased from 1994 to 2000 was mainly related to increasing net gestational weight gain. The incidence of macrosomia has levelled off in recent years partly due to increasing use of prelabor caesarean delivery and earlier delivery and partly due to moderation of gestational weight gain
Plasma folate status and dietary folate intake among Chinese women of childbearing age
Maternal folic acid deficiency is an underlying risk for neural tube defects (NTDs). China has one of the highest prevalences of NTDs, and the prevalence rates of NTDs vary by region. We characterized plasma folate level and dietary folate intake among Chinese women of childbearing age by region (North and South, East and West, urban and rural) to provide evidence for establishing policy to prevent NTDs. A total of 1003 women of childbearing age …
Association of Education and the Occurrence of Low Birthweight in Rural Southern China During the Early and Late 1990s
Objectives. We examined whether education-related inequalities were associated with the occurrence of low birthweight in 6 counties in southern China in the early and late 1990s. Methods. The study population consisted of 111181 women (65669 in the early 1990s and 45482 in the late 1990s) in a population-based Perinatal Health Care Surveillance System. We used the χ 2 test, logistic regression, and concentration index for our analyses. Results. F…
Comparison of blood folate levels among pregnant Chinese women in areas with high and low prevalence of neural tube defects
Objective To characterise plasma and red-blood-cell (RBC) folate status among pregnant women in an area with an extremely high prevalence of neural tube defects, and to compare them with those of women from a low prevalence area. Design A cross-sectional survey conducted in 2003. Setting One county and one city from each of the high prevalence area and the low prevalence area in China. Subjects Five hundred and sixty-two women in their first trim…
Breast-feeding, dietary intakes and their associations with subclinical vitamin A deficiency in children in Anhui Province, China
Objective This study aimed to explore the associations between breast-feeding, dietary intakes and other related factors and subclinical vitamin A deficiency (SVAD) in children aged 0–5 years in an area in China where mild vitamin A deficiency (VAD) is found. Methods Data were from a population-based cross-sectional study with 1052 children aged 0–5 years. SVAD cases were identified by the indicator of serum retinol ≤ 20 μg dl − 1 . Breast-feedin…
Periconceptional use of folic acid in Shanxi Province of northern China
Objective To understand the periconceptional use of folic acid and its association with selected characteristics in northern China. Design As part of a population-based case–control study on external structural birth defects, we analysed periconceptional use of folic acid among control mothers. Setting The study was conducted in four counties (Pingding, Xiyang, Taigu and Zezhou) in Shanxi Province of northern China. Subjects The subjects in this …
Education-Related Gender Differences in Health in Rural China
We investigated gender differences in education-related health inequalities in rural China. Household interview data were obtained from 6 provinces in 1993 and 2001. Remarkable health inequalities existed and favored the higher educational groups; among women, the inequalities were greater and health inequalities increased from 1993 to 2001. Education serves as a more powerful mediating factor for health inequalities among women than among men in…
Prevention of Neural-Tube Defects with Folic Acid in China
BACKGROUND AND METHODS: Periconceptional administration of folic acid can reduce a woman's risk of having a fetus or infant with a neural-tube defect. As part of a public health campaign conducted from 1993 to 1995 in an area of China with high rates of neural-tube defects (the northern region) and one with low rates (the southern region), we evaluated the outcomes of pregnancy in women who were asked to take a pill containing 400 microg of folic…
