An analysis of asymmetric effect of federal transfers across Indian states
This study empirically examines the asymmetric effect of federal transfers in India using a panel dataset of 18 states from 2000–2001 to 2019–2020. In mapping the asymmetric effect of federal transfers on subnational spending across the Indian states, we test it in the extended ‘flypaper effect’ framework, examining whether subnational expenditures respond in the same way to changes in federal transfers. To quantify the extent of the asymmetric e…
Fact-Checking Methodology and its Transparency: What Indian Fact-Checking Websites Have to Say
Among other preventive measures, fact-checking is considered as one of the effective ways to combat fake news. Fact-checkers promote rationality and assist citizens in making informed decisions. However, fact-checkers’ motives, methods and abilities are doubted and subjected to distrust. Lack of perceived trust is a major concern in the profession of fact-checking journalism. To build public trust, fact-checking organisations have been advised to…

Various measures such as Gini coefficient, overlapping index, and raking matrices are estimated for the whole as well as the subgroups using ANOGI methodology. …
Energy consumption, institutional quality and tourist arrival in Pakistan: Is the nexus (a)symmetric amidst structural breaks
Energy consumption is a prerequisite for economic growth especially in developing countries, and its demand is expected to increases as population increases. The quality of institutions is also germane for tourism development, as weak institutions may discourage the arrival of tourists into a country. This study examines the asymmetric impact of energy consumption (EC) and institutional quality (IQ) on tourist arrival (TA) in Pakistan for the per…
