  • Geometric Transformations and Symmetry in Primary and Secondary Education

Open Access•J Enrique Hernandez-Zavaleta, Sandra Becker et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2026

There is need for increased focus on geometric transformations and symmetry in primary and secondary education, as well as increased research to support learning and teaching of geometric transformations. To identify directions for future research and teaching, we set out to map the research that has already been conducted and to identify key areas of focus and opportunity going forward. Toward these goals, this systematic review examines 62 peer…

  • Glacier fluctuation chronology since the latest Pleistocene at Mount Rainier, Washington, USA

    Open Access•Mary Samolczyk, Mary A Samolczyk et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2024

Large stratovolcanoes in the Cascade Range have high equilibrium-line altitudes that support glaciers whose Holocene and latest Pleistocene advances are amenable to dating. Glacier advances produced datable stratigraphic sequences in lateral moraines, which complement dating of end moraines. New mapping of glacial deposits on Mount Rainier using LIDAR and field observations supports a single latest Pleistocene or early Holocene advance. Rainier R…

  • Isabella Whitney’s Bruised Brain

    Douglas Clark•ARTICLE•Women s Writing•2024

Sixteenth and seventeenth-century writers were preoccupied with reflecting on the nature of the mind. A vast array of authors seized upon the opportunities offered by new and established literary genres to explore the place that the mind held as a governing force of the human individual, but little attention has been paid to the portrayal of minds suffering from creative frustrations of a non-romantic nature. My article establishes the importance…

  • Learning analytics for online game-Based learning

Open Access•Seyyed Kazem Banihashem, Hojjat Dehghanzadeh et al.•ARTICLE•Behaviour and Information…•2024

Game-based learning researchers have been investigating various means to maximise learning in educational games. One promising venue in recent years has been the use of learning analytics in online game-based learning environments. However, little is known about how different elements of learning analytics (e.g. data types, techniques methods, and stakeholders) contribute to game-based learning practices within online learning environments. There…

  • The age and paleoclimate implications of relict periglacial block deposits on the New England Tablelands, Australia

    Open Access•Adrian Slee, Timothy T Barrows et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2023

Pleistocene periglacial activity in eastern Australia was widespread and has been predicted to have extended along much of the east coast. This paper describes block deposits in the New England Tablelands, Australia, as far north as 30°S. These deposits are characterized by openwork blocks on slopes below the angle of repose. The deposits are positioned where frost cracking was significant and range in area up to 8 ha. Surface exposure dating usi…

  • Stakeholder preferences for pangolin conservation interventions in south‐east Nigeria

Open Access•Charles A Emogor, Aiora Zabala et al.•ARTICLE•People and Nature•2023

The overexploitation of biological resources severely threatens many species, requiring urgent and effective conservation interventions. Such interventions sometimes require governance structures that incorporate pluralist perspectives and collaborative decision‐making, especially in complex, multi‐faceted and multi‐scale issues like the illegal trade in pangolins. We used Q‐methodology to provide evidence to inform interventions for pangolin con…

  • Stakeholder Perspectives on Chronic Wasting Disease Risk and Management on the Canadian Prairies

Kari Amick, Douglas A Clark et al.•ARTICLE•Human Dimensions of Wildlife•2015

Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is an infectious disease caused by a prion that results in neurodegeneration and death in cervids. This study uses Q methodology to characterize stakeholder perspectives about CWD risk and management on the Canadian prairies, and to understand the potential for CWD management using an adaptive governance framework. Workshops and individual interviews were conducted with 16 stakeholders in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. P…

  • Relating Sensation Seeking and the von Restorff Isolation Effect

    Open Access•Richard S Cimbalo, Douglas Clark et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•2003

Sensation seeking was examined in a short-term memory task involving the serial recall of a 10-item list of consonants with (isolated) and without (non-isolated) a distinctively larger item in the fifth position. 126 students were given the Sensation Seeking Scale Form-V and 32 10-item lists to memorize in a 1 by 3 mixed design. Sensation seeking was a between-subject factor and Blocks (Trials 1-16 and 17-32), Isolation (isolated and nonisolated)…
