  • Integrated InSAR and Machine Learning Reveal Soil Type as Primary Control on Rainfall‐Triggered Landslide Susceptibility in Meizhou, China

Open Access•Haoran Yu, Pinglang Kou et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2026

The spatial controls on rainfall‐triggered landslides remain elusive due to monitoring challenges in mountainous regions with frequent cloud cover. Here we fuse three complementary interferometric techniques—Small BAseline Subset (SBAS), Enhanced Small BAseline Subset (E‐SBAS), and storm‐pair Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (D‐InSAR)—with Sentinel‐2 imagery and seven machine learning classifiers to analyze the June 2024 land…

Open Access•Yang Zhou, Qiang Xu•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

This study investigated the impact of two critical dimensions of quality of life—income level and health status—on the degree of worry about perceived risks of growing older among Chinese citizens. Using data from the China General Social Survey (CGSS) 2021, we assessed these worries and further examined variations by gender, age group, educational attainment, and region. The study employed multiple imputation, instrumental variable methods, mode…

  • From hazard mapping to risk governance

Open Access•Hao Zhu, Xing Zhu et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2025

Global land use/cover change (LUCC) critically governs landslide risk through altered surface material dynamics. Despite increasing research focus on this issue, systematic mapping of LUCC-landslide interdependencies and their cascading impacts remains lacking. Our analysis of 102 studies (2002–2024) from Web of Science, Scopus, and Engineering Village outlines three developmental stages in this field: (1) empirical correlation studies (2002–2010…

  • The dynamics of personality, risk, and choice

Qiang Xu, Jinbo Jiang et al.•ARTICLE•Current Issues in Tourism•2025

Adventure tourism has grown rapidly, attracting individuals with diverse personality profiles and risk preferences. This study investigates how the Big Five Personality Traits, specifically extraversion, openness, and neuroticism, influence adventure tourism choices and how psychological risk preference moderates these relationships. Using stratified random sampling, 650 questionnaires were distributed, and 617 were collected. After excluding inc…

  • Unconscious processing of facial race and emotional information

Open Access•Zhi Quan, Xinchao Yang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2025

Facial information plays a significant role in social interactions. However, the extent to which racial information and emotional information in faces can be processed under unconscious conditions has been a matter of debate. This study utilized the breaking Continuous Flash Suppression (b-CFS) paradigm to investigate whether racial information and emotional information in faces could be processed unconsciously, and whether these different types …

  • Assessment of loess terraced slope erosion using unmanned aerial vehicle photogrammetry

Open Access•Pinglang Kou, Qiang Xu et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2024

Terraced slopes are widely used in the Loess Plateau to control gully erosion, yet their potential to induce new erosion patterns remains overlooked. Here we used unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry to obtain centimeter‐resolution digital surface models (DSMs) and derived hydrological networks, slopes, aspects, and curvatures of the terraced slopes. Our analysis reveals terraces disrupted natural water pathways, spurring new rill formati…

Open Access•Youlin Luo, Jie Shen et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2024

Rapid urbanization drives changes in suburban cropland and afforestation, but the impact on soil microbes and carbon (C) dynamics remains unclear. Using genetic sequencing (16S rRNA sequence and functional prediction), we assessed the effects of cropland intensification and afforestation on the soil microbial communities and C sequestration potential in a suburban agricultural area. Traditional rotation (rice–wheat) homogenized microbial diversit…

Despite the recognized importance of health and environmental concerns, the differential impact of these factors on organic food purchasing decisions is evident, indicating the presence of moderating variables. This investigation attempts to delineate these contingencies within the realms of socio-environmental and …

  • Influence of group information on facial expression recognition

Weihan Wang, Feizhen CAO et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2024

    Open Access•Eike F Rades, Sumiko Tsukamoto et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2015

Many lakes on the Tibetan Plateau exhibit strandplains with a series of beach ridges extending high above the current lake levels. These beach ridges mark former lake highstands and therefore dating their formation allows the reconstruction of lake-level histories and environmental changes. In this study, we establish a lake-level chronology of Tangra Yum Co (fifth largest lake on the Tibetan Plateau) based on luminescence dating of feldspar from…

  • 自我积极表情加工优势效应

Qun Feng Tan, Qun TAN et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2018

It is well established in a number of studies that there is a cognitive advantage for self-related information, which is called “self-reference effect”. Some researchers have found that the processing of self-related information and the processing of emotional valence information are not only independent, but also interactive. However, these previous studies lacked the investigation of how individuals processed self-related information with diffe…

Yaping Yang, Qiang Xu et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2019

Stereotypes are vital for social interaction by facilitating social decision making as well as conserving limited time and cognitive resources. Previous studies on stereotype activation mainly focus specific social groups, such as gender, race, etc. However, exactly how stereotypes are activated among various social groups remains unknown. To fill this gap, we classified social groups into four clusters according to stereotype content model in th…

  • Effects of Social Context on Deliberate Facial Expressions

Open Access•Stephen Katembu, Qiang Xu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Nonverbal Behavior•2022

Facial expressions contribute to nonverbal communication, social coordination, and interaction. Facial expressions may reflect the emotional state of the expressor, but they may be modulated by the presence of others, for example, by facial mimicry or through social display rules. We examined how deliberate facial expressions of happiness and anger (smiles and frowns), prompted by written commands, are modulated by the congruency with the facial …
