    An excavation in advance of pipeline construction, sponsored by Shell Chemicals UK Ltd, has provided further information on the nature of the Roman military site on the east bank of the River Avon. The trench revealed that an expansion was the first structure abutted to the south of the Antonine Wall, and that this was subsequently replaced by a small fort
