  • A black hole with no marginally trapped tube asymptotic to its event horizon

    Catherine Williams, Catherine M Williams•OTHER•Contemporary Mathematics•2011

We construct an example of a spherically symmetric black hole interior in which there is no (spherically symmetric) marginally trapped tube asymptotic to the event horizon. The construction uses a self-gravitating massive scalar field matter model, and the key condition we impose is that the scalar field φ be bounded below by a positive constant along the event horizon.

  • Proposals to Transfer Complaints Panels to the Commission for Social Care Inspection – Throwing the Baby out with the Bath Water

Catherine Williams, Katy Ferris•ARTICLE•The Journal of Social Welfare Law•2005

We argue that this proposal is not grounded in a satisfactory rationale, is not the best …

The importance of the cultural identity of a child awaiting adoption, in terms of ‘race’, religion and ethnic background, is the subject of continuing debate and often controversial and heated discussion. Tina Patel, Catherine Williams and Peter Marsh seek to examine the public and legal perspectives of the debate and in particular the degrees to which the two positions correspond with each other. Over 1,200 questionnaires were used on a stratifi…
