  • Experiences and Attitudes of the LGBTQ+ Community on Care/Nursing Homes

    Open Access•Laura Skeldon, Simon Jenkins et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Homosexuality•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 37

Recent research has found that older lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) people have a negative attitude toward long term care services. To build upon this, we conducted a systematic review analyzing current research into the LGBTQ+ communities' perspectives and experiences of care/nursing homes. Additionally, we sought to explore the attitudes of care/nursing home staff toward providing care for LGBTQ+ residents. To conduct th…

  • Inherent Vice? Maltese Men and the Organization of Prostitution in Interwar Cardiff

    Simon Jenkins•ARTICLE•Journal of Social History•2016

This article explores concerns over Maltese men and the organization of prostitution in interwar Cardiff and reveals the central role of masculinity in shaping both perceptions and the social experiences of this marginalized group. • Mission Accomplished

    Simon Jenkins, Simon enkins•BOOK•Mission Accomplished?•2015

The fall of the Soviet Union left the West aimless. With no conflicting dogma to reinforce its sense of justice the West assumed the role of global policeman - aid graduated from charitable to economic and, finally, military. Ideological struggle was replaced…

  • Aliens and Predators

    Simon Jenkins•ARTICLE•Cultural and Social History•2014•Cited by: 2•References: 10

This article examines the intersections of prostitution and race in Cardiff, and shows that racialized concepts of predatory sexuality framed ideas of prostitution in twentieth-century British ports. These were linked to wider concerns over miscegenation in the dockside district of Butetown, a space historically linked to prostitution and seen as distinctly ‘foreign’ and ‘contagious' by the interwar years. These debates were informed by local dem…

  • Thatcher's Legacy

    Open Access•Simon Jenkins•ARTICLE•Political Studies Review•2007•References: 1

At the time of Margaret Thatcher's fall, conventional wisdom held that Thatcherism was a leadership style that had departed with its author. In significant respects, Thatcher's economic reforms were incomplete, and she and her ideas had never enjoyed a popular majority. But subsequent events have made clear that 1979 was a new point of departure. Thatcher's legacy can be described as two revolutions. The first revolution was an assault on the siz…
