    ON MARCH 9, I9I6, A MEXICAN RAIDING FORCE of five hundred men attacked the town of Columbus, New Mexico, to cries of Viva and Viva Mekxico. According to all available evidence, the leader of the attack was the Mexican revolutionary general Francisco Villa.
