Modeling the effect of high-quality transport terminals on transit service choices
Analysis and Identification of Damages Caused by Canine (Canis lupus familiaris) Manipulation of Woven Textiles as Cultural Evidence in Forensic Cases
Scavenging of human remains by dogs can make the process of identification and analysis of perimortem trauma difficult. Numerous scientific studies have been published about the damage caused to osseous remains by dogs due to postmortem consumption orlethal attacks. However, few studies deal with the issue of the analysis of clothing associated with human remains. The purpose of this investigation was to identify patterns of damage caused by dome…
A monastery in Magdala (Taricheae)
Ancient Magdala is located at the foot of the E slopes of Mt. Arbel, on the shore of the Sea of Galilee (map ref. 7477/2478) (fig. 1). The Aramaic name Magdala or Migdal Nunayya (“The tower of the fish”), mentioned in Rabbinic sources of the Roman period, is preserved in the name of the Arab village of “el-Mejdel” that stood on the site until 1948. The identification is also confirmed by ancient sources that indicate Magdala was located on the ma…

A probable case of gigantism/acromegaly in skeletal remains from the Jewish necropolis of "Ronda Sur" (Lucena, Ćordoba, Spain; VIII-XII centuries CE)
Pituitary gigantism is a rare endocrine disorder caused by hypersecretion of growth hormone during growing period. Individuals with this disorder have an enormous growth in height and associated degenerative changes. The continued hypersecretion of growth hormone during adulthood leads to acromegaly, a condition related to the disproportionate bone growth of the skull, hands and feet. The skeletal remains studied belong to a young adult male from…
New insights into the palaeoenvironmental evolution of Magdala ancient harbour (Sea of Galilee, Israel) from ostracod assemblages, geochemistry and sedimentology
Magdala harbour sedimentation (Sea of Galilee, Israel), from natural to anthropogenic control
Modelling airport choice behaviour for direct flights, connecting flights and different travel plans
Mandibular Fracture and Dislocation in a Case Study from the Jewish Cemetery of Lucena (CÓRDOBA), in South Iberian Peninsula (8th–12th ad )
The skeletal remains of an adult female have been exhumed in an 11th century tomb in the mediaeval Jewish cemetery of Ronda Sur, in the city of Lucena (Córdoba, Spain). Examination of the skull and mandible revealed evidences of bilateral condylar fracture and dislocation. Lesions were observed macroscopically and radiology was used as a complementary method of scrutiny, especially in cases of unclear observation. Irregular morphology of the cond…
Age estimation by tooth/pulp ratio in canines by peri-apical X-rays
Benjamin Constant and the Terror
September 5, 1793, was a day of revolutionary agitation and violence in Paris. The sans-culottes invaded the seat of the Convention demanding bread for the people and the guillotine for the enemies of the Revolution. There was nothing exceptional about the event, however. For several months Paris had been periodically rocked by popular uprisings led by more or less obscure agitators and always culminating in the same demands: for more food, price…
