    Edward Wang, Edward Q Wang•ARTICLE•English Language Notes•2025

Few civilizations in the world have paid as much attention to the instrumentality of history as Chinese civilization. Ouyang Xiu’s reworking of the earlier histories and Sima Guang’s compilation of the stately Comprehensive Mirror to Aid in Government were examples of establishing the writing of history as …

The current study examines violent and nonviolent traumatic events involving friends and family members as predictors of PTSD, depression, internalizing, and externalizing behaviors in a sample of 403 African American early adolescents from chronically violent environments. Open Access•Arlene Michaels Miller, Edward S T Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cross-Cultural…•2009•Cited by: 11•References: 36

Most research on immigrant acculturation has been conducted with cross-sectional samples, using statistical designs that may not capture different trajectories for the components that contribute to this complex concept. Several acculturation theories note the importance of surrounding context, but few studies describe neighborhood influences on immigrant adaptation. The purpose of this study was to examine relationships among neighborhood immigrant concentration, acculturation, and alienation for 151 women aged 44-80 from the former Soviet Union who lived in the US fewer than 13 years. Participants resided in 65 census tracts in the Chicago area with varying con…

Open Access•Julia Ying-Chao Lin, Edward Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Social Behavior and Personality…•2007

In this study the relationship between extroversion and leisure motivation in Taiwanese fitness center members was examined. A systematic sampling (one out of ten entering the fitness center) produced 424 usable questionnaires for the final data analysis. The findings reveal that extroversion is positively correlated with the four leisure motivation dimensions: Intellectual, Social, Competence-mastery and Stimulus-avoidance. We therefore conclude…

JoEllen Wilbur, Joan Shaver et al.•ARTICLE•Health Care For Women International•2006

We aimed to determine how menopausal transition symptoms cluster across 216 midlife women with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndromes (FMS/CFS), or both and subsequently to compare symptom factor severity scores by menopausal status among these women and compare symptom reporting with prior community-based samples of women without obvious illness. We designed a cross-sectional telephone survey of 216 women aged 35 to 55, diagnosed with FMS/CFS, …
