Climate, climate change and human health in Asian cities
Climate change will affect the health of urban populations. It represents a range of environmental hazards and will affect populations where the current burden of climate-sensitive disease is high — such as the urban poor in low- and middle-income countries. Understanding the current impact of weather and climate variability on the health of urban populations is the first step towards assessing future impacts. In this paper, we have reviewed the …
Cancer ecology in Kerala, India
Studies carried out on the spatial distribution of cancer in India reveal a high intensity zone of cancer in Kerala, especially in respect of tumours of the oral cavity, pharynx and respiratory system. It is suggested that an ecological approach involving the study of environmental deficiencies or overloads of minerals and radio‐active elements in the soil and dietary habits, could provide useful guidelines for the control of cancer in Kerala

However, the final choice of location for a facility will often depend on a trade-off between many criteria including not only its physical accessibility for th…

Geographical distribution of cancer in India with special reference to stomach cancer
There are regional variations in the occurrence of different types of cancers in India. A cancer intensity map has been prepared in order to identify the dominance of different types of carcinomas in various geographical regions. The study shows that the pattern of cancer distribution is apparently linked to a great extent with the type of nutrition habits and socio‐economic and cultural environment in each region. Various types of nutrition habi…
