  • Perinatal mortality and its relationship to the reporting of low-birthweight infants

Sharon T Phelan, Robert Goldenberg et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1998•Cited by: 1•References: 5

OBJECTIVES: This study examined changes in the reporting of very low-birthweight infants in Alabama from 1974 to 1994 and the impact on perinatal mortality rates. METHODS: Linked live birth, neonatal death, and stillbirth records of infants born weighing less than 1500 g were compared. RESULTS: The changes in mortality over time ranged from a drop from 100% to 92% in the under-500-g group to a drop from 39% to 4% in the 1000-to 1499-g group. The …

    G Alexander, Gerianne M Alexander et al.•ARTICLE•Obstetrics and Gynecology•1996

METHODS: Single live births to United States resident mothers in 1991 (n = 3,134,879) were used for the development of this curve, which was compared with four previously published fetal growth curves. Techniques were…

OBJECTIVES. Unlike cognitive impairments associated with lead exposure, lead-associated child behavior problems have been difficult to specify, particularly in young children. METHODS. The Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale were used as the outcome and confounding variables, respectively, of major interest. These measures were examined with respect to blood lead levels of 201 African-American…
