  • Does visibility mean vitality? Korean signage and staged vitality on Xita Street, China

    Open Access•Cheng Yang, Van-Ha Luong•ARTICLE•Journal of Multilingual and…•2026

Linguistic landscapes in minority-ethnic spaces make cultural diversity publicly visible, affirm minority communities’ historical presence, and support local memory within a shared national order. However, minority-language visibility does not necessarily indicate communicative vitality, especially in contexts shaped by national-language governance, commercial restructuring, and tourism development. Grounded in language commodification theory, th…

  • Does agricultural mechanization promote green development? evidence from an entropy-weighted provincial panel in China (2011–2023)

Open Access•Cheng Yang, 杨琤 杨琤 et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2026

While agricultural mechanization is central to rural transformation in China, its ecological implications remain unclear. This study examines whether mechanization promotes agricultural green development or induces input-intensive ecological trade-offs. Using a balanced panel of 31 Chinese provinces from 2011 to 2023, we construct an entropy-weighted Green_Ecology index based on fertilizer, pesticide, and plastic film use, as well as forest cover…

Open Access•Hua Zhang, Yanyan Ouyang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Background: From a cultural perspective on research into homosexual identity, existing studies argue that the cultural foundations of Chinese attitudes toward homosexuality are deeply embedded in Confucian ethics, the family system, and a patriarchal gender order. Building on this foundation, this study adopts "family-based moral regulation" as its core explanatory framework, focusing on value domains such as marriage, reproduction, gender, and i…

  • Determination ( niścaya ) as the Cognitive Result ( pramāṇaphala): Dignāga’s Ambiguity about Cognitive Result

Cheng Yang, Changjie Yang•ARTICLE•Philosophy East and West•2026

This paper argues that Dignāga is ambiguous regarding whether conceptual determination ( niścaya ) constitutes the cognitive result ( pramāṇaphala ). First, I demonstrate that niścaya is conceptual in Dignāga’s context, evidenced by his refutations of Nyāya and Mīmāṃsaka. Second, I argue that his critique of Nyāya implicitly presupposes that determination functions as the result, a premise Jinendrabuddhi makes explicit. While Dignāga categoricall…
