  • Glacial geomorphology of the Nahuel Huapi region, northern Patagonia (41° S)

  • Do ice-dam rupture events leave a distinctive signature in proglacial lake sediments?

Open Access•Guido Brignone, Matias Romero et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2025

Lake sediment provides a valuable record of past environmental change. However, the controls on sedimentation in proglacial lakes and their relation to glacier retreat remain poorly understood. In this study we analyze glaciolacustrine sediment production and deposition in Canal de los Témpanos, Lago Argentino, Argentine Patagonia. We associate temporal changes in the sedimentologic and geochemical characteristics analyzed from Lago Argentino cor…

  • Paleoenvironmental changes in southern South American dust sources during the last glacial/interglacial transition

Open Access•Matias Romero, Gabriela Torre et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2021

  • Holocene occupation history of pygoscelid penguins at Stranger Point, King George (25 de Mayo) Island, northern Antarctic Peninsula

    Open Access•D Emslie, Matias Romero et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 1

We report additional fossil evidence for pygoscelid penguins breeding on King George (25 de Mayo) Island, South Shetland Islands, in the Holocene beginning at ~7000 cal. yr BP. This evidence comes from a raised marine beach deposit formerly studied and described as Pingfo I at Stranger Point, Potter Peninsula. We relocated and exposed deposits at this site and recovered additional samples of penguin bones from five stratigraphic beds that are red…
