  • Partisan and Racial Sorting of Christian Nationalism, 1996–2022

Open Access•J V Smith, Jesse Smith•ARTICLE•Journal for the Scientific Study…•2026

Christian nationalism scholarship and discourse has surged in the years since Trump's 2016 election victory, even as, by most measures, adherence to Christian nationalist beliefs has declined. Applying scholarship on political backlash, I propose that this apparent discrepancy may be explained both by ideological trends antithetical to public religion among Democrats and politicization of religious identity among Republicans, leading to partisan …

  • Religiosity is Declining BUT Giving is Increasing

    Open Access•R T Cragun, Alexandra Rodríguez et al.•ARTICLE•Secularism and Nonreligion•2026•References: 3

Using the 2023 wave of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID), we examine whether there are significant differences in the tendency to donate (and/or) make contributions towards religious and secular charitable organizations based on religious affiliation. • Health Programming to Support Remote Indigenous Older Adults with Technology Use in Saskatchewan

Open Access•John Bosco Acharibasam, Cari McIlduff et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2025

Colonial legacies have left Indigenous older adults in remote communities vulnerable to health challenges that impede healthy ageing in place. Access to culturally safe health programming and support for using ageing technology remains a significant challenge for these older adults. Our previous research projects within the Star Blanket Cree Nation introduced older adults to new technologies, including blood glucose monitors, blood pressure monit…

  • Outcast Women

Bethany Gull, Jesse Smith et al.•ARTICLE•Nova Religio The Journal of…•2023

Studies on religious disaffiliation have largely ignored the gendered dynamics at play in decisions to exit and the exit experience itself. We begin to address this gap by foregrounding gender as a structuring variable in the exit process. As we examine the disaffiliation narratives of twenty formerly Mormon women—members of a women-only Facebook support group—we find that gender infuses their reasons for exiting as well as their experiences duri…

In a series of sh1die.r the validity of preexisting indicator data, based on child and family variables, was tested by means of an extensive sample survey with individual case interviews in two counties in New York State. The counties included one of the highest and one of the lowest in the state, as measured on a specially developed index. On comparable variables a close fit was found between the indicator and the survey data. When the more exte…
