  • Seasonal and Climatic Factors on Water Quality

Open Access•Manoj Kumar Jindal, Devendra Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development•2026

This study investigated the seasonal dynamics of drinking water quality in Kota, Rajasthan, across three primary sources: handpumps (shallow‐groundwater), tubewells (deep‐groundwater), and surface water. Samples collected during summer, rainy, and winter seasons were analyzed for physical, chemical, and biological parameters using a novel water quality health indicator (WQHI). Seasonal patterns showed that handpumps were influenced by rainfall‐in…

Devendra Narain Singh, Devendra Singh•ARTICLE•The Journal of Sex Research•2004•Cited by: 16•References: 9

The female physical attractiveness stereotype has been reported to contain both desirable (sociable, poised, interesting) and undesirable (snobbish, likely to request divorce and have extra-marital affairs) personal qualities. To investigate whether such an attractiveness stereotype is cross-cultural, I asked men and women from Azore Island, Guinea-Bissau, Indonesia, and the U.S. to judge the attractiveness of female figures differing in body wei…

Devendra Narain Singh, Devendra Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality and Social…•1999•Cited by: 24

Lesbian scholars hotly debate the validity of "butch" and "femme" erotic roles. Although some dismiss them as social constructs, others maintain they are natural expressions of lesbian sexuality. The authors compared self-described butch and femme lesbians on gender-discriminating behavioral, morphological, and hormonal measures. Butch and femme lesbians did not differ from heterosexual women on sex role personality traits, depressive symptomolog…

Devendra Narain Singh, Devendra Singh•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality and Social…•1995•Cited by: 17

Two studies were conducted to examine the role of male body shape (as defined by waist-to-hip ratio [WHR]) in female mate choice. In Study 1, college-age women judged normal-weight male figures with WHR in the typical male range as most attractive, healthy, and possessing many positive personal qualities. In Study 2, 18-69-year-old women rated normal-weight male figures with differing WHRs and purported income for casual (having coffee) to most-c…

Evidence is presented showing that body fat distribution as measured by waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) is correlated with youthfulness, reproductive endocrinologic status, and long-term health risk in women.Three studies show that men judge women with low WHR as attractive.Study 1 documents that minor changes in WHRs of Miss America winners and Playboy playmates have occurred over the past 30-60 years.Study 2 shows that college-age men find female figu…

  • Performance of Obese Humans on Transfer of Training and Reaction Time Tests

Devendra Narain Singh, Devendra Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•1973

Two experiments were conducted investigating the role of response tendencies in determining the behavior of obese people. In the first experiment, a mirror-drawing transfer task was used to ascertain the amount of negative transfer. 26 obese and 22 normal subjects were given 3 trials to determine baseline performance, followed by 10 trials for negative transfer and finally, tested with the nonpreferred hands (4 trials). Results showed that obese …

    Open Access•Devendra Narain Singh, Devendra Singh•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1967

Rats were trained on a crf schedule for bar-pressing requiring different amounts of force to activate the food delivery mechanism. Ss were given 480 reinforced trials under either low, medium, or high food deprivation. Extinction data showed a significant effect of food deprivation; however, neither effortfulness of responses nor its interaction with deprivation was significant

  • Factors Underlying Emotionality Produced by Infantile Stimulation and Septal Lesion

    Open Access•Devendra Narain Singh, Devendra Singh•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1966

Emotionality in the rats was produced either by septal lesion or by placing the animals under different infantile living conditions. A factor analysis of the data shows that the emotionalities produced by the two treatments are different. Since four independent factors underlie emotionality, emotionality appears to be multi-dimensional; different indices used to measure emotionality do not assess the same dimensions
