  • Varieties of Centralized Intake

Nancy Barron, Bentson H Mcfarland et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychoactive Drugs•2002

To assess the possible influence of centralized intake on client outcomes, initial, six- and twelve-month Addiction Severity Index composite scores (in the alcohol, drug, legal and psychiatric areas) for clients who experienced provider intake were compared with scores for those going through two different models of centralized intake. Centralized intake clients were more likely than provider intake clients to have legal problems, and those legal…

  • Treatment Preparation in the Context of System Coordination Serves Inmates Well

Phillip A Windell, Nancy Barron•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychoactive Drugs•2002

A large percentage of jail inmates suffer from substance abuse problems; however, providing treatment in jail is difficult. Multnomah County's In Jail Intervention Program (IJIP) demonstrated an effective alternative. Finigan, Barron, and Carey (In press) and Barron and Finigan (1999) demonstrated that inmates with substance use problems, especially women, participating in IJIP experienced fewer rearrests and reincarcerations. To address the ques…

    Open Access•Marvin D Loflin, Thomas W Guyette et al.•ARTICLE•American Educational Research…•1972•References: 1

Certain analytic techniques devised for the analysis of verbal behavior claim to reflect the density of semantic information in a communicative event. These techniques usually involve some form of content analysis and are applicable to classroom verbal interaction studies. Unfortunately, most studies of classroom interaction do not meet the standards of content analysis. In content analysis, words uttered by participants are assigned by the analy…

Since members of the two sexes experience varying biosocial realities, and since language is a system of communication about realities, language behavior of men and women was expected to differ. Case refers to a system of deep structure constructs which define the relational meani…
