The shifting worlds of welfare surveillance and the consolidation of criminalizing logics
This article examines institutional and ideological shifts in Danish welfare surveillance, focusing on the transition from traditional, direct control to semi-automated, remote welfare eligibility assessments. Drawing on the Pragmatic Sociology of Critique, we conceptualize welfare eligibility assessments as control tests rooted in competing ideological worlds: a domestic world of proximity and discretion, and an industrial world of professional …

A dubious strategy in pursuit of a dubious enemy: A critique of U.S. post‐cold war security policy in the third world
In the aftermath of the Cold War, proponents of the concepts of “peacetime engagement” and “nation assistance” stress instability in the Third World as the main threat to U.S. security. This article maintains that the programs advanced by peacetime engagement and nation assistance proponents would not solve the root issues that cause instability in the Third World.
