Dental Care and Education Facing Highly Transmissible Sars-CoV-2 Variants
With the arrival of the highly transmissible Omicron variants (BA.4 and BA.5), dentistry faces another seasonal challenge to preserve the biosafety of dental care and education. With the aim of protecting patients, students, teachers and healthcare professionals, this paper introduces a prospective sustainable biosafety setting for everyday dental care and education. The setting developed by dental clinicians, epidemiologists, and teachers of den…
The cortisol awakening response after sleep deprivation
This study tested whether the cortisol awakening response is dependent on the transition from sleep to awakening, or alternatively, a circadian-driven process that is independent of awakening. Nutrition and immune system
The thymus is a central lymphatic organ reaching its largest size after the delivery. Its size is significantly affected by endogenous and exogenous negative factors. In our research, we investigated the relationship between the size of the thymus determined by sonography and anthropometric parameters as well as indexes demonstrating the nutritional status. The examined group consisted of 212 full-term newborns, all of which passed an anthropomet…

In conformity with his life-long preoccupation with the origins and role of morals, he laid great emphasis on professional ethics and civic morals, together with the institutions—professional associations (“corporations”) and the state—that ought to ensure the maintenance of solidarity and avoid…
The Body - The New Sacred? The Body in Hypermodernity
Religious and philosophical ideas about the body and its position in the chain of being, compared to the soul, were replaced in the 19th century by practical concerns about the bodies - and especially about the health - of the working classes. At about the same time, ethnographic information about the treatment of bodies among non-European societies gave rise to the understanding of different treatments of the body. Classical sociology paid atten…

To Live with Ambivalence, or Aren't We all Barbarians
