  • The ontology of financial markets and the policy paradigm of financial regulation

    Jaehwan Jung•ARTICLE•Globalizations•2023•References: 41

This study aims to discern the ontological assumptions of the financial regulatory paradigm to clarify the meaning of a paradigm shift and the significance of the macroprudential turn in global financial regulation. An ontological understanding of financial markets is a key requirement to understand the hard core assumptions of the financial regulatory paradigm because the conflation of distinct ontologies makes it impossible to maintain the inte…

  • The auxiliary paradigm change and club-based governance model in global banking regulation

    Open Access•Jaehwan Jung•ARTICLE•International Journal Canada s…•2023

After the 2008 global financial crisis, the newly revised Basel III international regulatory framework for banks enhanced the macroprudential objective of addressing the systemic risk inherent in financial markets. This revision of the Basel framework was lauded as an example of a paradigm change from an efficient market consensus to a macroprudential consensus in global banking regulation. However, this so-called Basel consensus merely tweaked t…

  • Cultural attributes and risk perception: The moderating role of different types of research and development

    Dong‐Young Kim, Dong-Young Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Risk Research•2017•References: 23

Drawing on the grid–group culture theory, this study examines hypotheses to explain how the cultural attributes of an organization influence professionals’ perceptions of risk in the context of research and development (R&D) activities. Specifically, we explore whether two dimensions of cultural attributes – the grid dimension and the group dimension – affect organizational commitment and risk perception. We also investigate whether the impact of…

  • Professional autonomy, group cohesion, and job complexity affect researchers' organizational commitment

Open Access•Jaehwan Jung, Changi Nam et al.•ARTICLE•Social Behavior and Personality…•2016

We examined the effects of professional autonomy and group cohesion on the organizational commitment of research and development (R&D) professionals, taking into account the moderating role of job complexity in this relationship. Participants were 264 full-time researchers who each had over 5 years' tenure at an international information technology institute in South Korea, and who completed surveys assessing their professional autonomy, group co…

  • Financial Liberalisation and Institutional Incompatibility: The Unresolved Dilemma of the Korean Economy

    Open Access•Jaehwan Jung•ARTICLE•Politics•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 40

Using a ‘varieties of capitalism’ approach, this article explains the ongoing contradictions of the Korean economy in terms of institutional incompatibilities between the liberalised financial system and the most important institutional legacy of the Korean developmental model: the chaebol system. Using its control over financial resources, the developmental state supported, monitored and disciplined the chaebol. Since the 1990s, financial libera…

  • Risk perception by industrial radiographers: Hungary and the UK compared

    B R Orton, Lennart Sjoberg et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Risk Research•2001•References: 1

Perceptions of risks from two groups of industrial radiographers, one from Hungary, (n = 45) and from the United Kingdom, (n = 29) were compared by the psychometric method. The comparison was made because both groups were at risk for high doses of ionizing radiation. We found the groups had similar demographic profiles but poor socio-economic conditions of Hungarians were associated with higher levels of emotional distress. Correlation HU-UK for …
