The aspectual system of Koyukon' is perhaps the most elaborate of the Atha- baskan languages. It has a complex network of four modes, 15 aspects, four superaspects, four postaspectual derivations, and some 300 aspect-dependent derivational prefix strings, allowing thousands of distinct and very precise characterizations regarding the time frame and type of verbal notion expressed.
