  • Changes in Disease Patterns in Rural China, With an Explanatory Framework

Chengpu Yu, Yu Chengpu•ARTICLE•Social Sciences in China•2021

Data on the disease pattern in rural China over the past hundred years show that chronic diseases have now replaced infectious diseases as the major health problems plaguing rural residents. • Why some donors are more willing to donate platelets? ----a qualitative study on 25 regular platelet donors in Guangzhou, China

    Open Access•Chengpu Yu, Joseph T F Lau et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2019

The practice of platelet donation reinforces the understanding that blood donation is a gift giving process performed among strangers. A safe and sustainable voluntary blood supply can only be secured in the absence of monetary transactions and moral pressure

  • Institutional incentives for altruism: Gifting blood in China

Open Access•Chengpu Yu, Eleanor Holroyd et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2013

At the institutional level, blood donation was not only informed by altruism, but also carried a system of benefit and reward for the donors and their family members. We would recommend that such arrangements, if accommodated effectively into China's health promotion strategies, would increase the likelihood of blood donation

  • Social Environmental Factors and Condom Use Among Female Injection Drug Users who are Sex Workers in China
