Evaluation of urban function and its heterogeneous relationships with environmental pollution in urban and rural areas
Urban function plays a vital role in shaping environmental outcomes, yet its spatial organization remains underexplored compared to urban form. This study develops a land function connectivity index (LFCI) to quantitatively evaluate how urban land functions are spatially arranged and how they relate to environmental pollution. Using Hangzhou, China, as a case study, we examine the relationship between LFCI and PM 2.5 concentrations, a widely used…
The impact of paid social Q&A on panic buying and digital hoarding at the stage of coexistence with Covid-19
Impact of Two-Way FDI on China’s Environmental Quality
While the rapid development of two-way foreign direct investment (FDI) has boosted China's economic growth, its impact on environmental quality is uncertain. Based on provincial panel data from China covering the period from 2002 to 2020, this paper proposes an environmental quality assessment index system for China from two aspects: environmentally cleaner production and environmental end treatment. The comprehensive environmental quality index …
Bioinformatics-Based Identification of Potential Hypoxia-Related Genes Associated With Peyronie’s Disease
Hypoxia is one of the most important predisposing conditions for Peyronie’s disease (PD) and the pathogenetic mechanism is yet to be completely elucidated. This study applied bioinformatic approaches to select candidate hypoxia-related genes involved in the pathogenesis of PD. The Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) data set GSE146500 was introduced to compare the transcriptional profiling between normal and PD samples. The differential expression of h…
Do Managerial Ties Help or Hinder Corporate Green Innovation? The Moderating Roles of Contextual Factors
Green innovation has significant implications for firms' financial, environmental, and social performance. However, its externalities may inhibit the proactive involvement of firms in such initiatives. In this study, we examined the roles of two types of managerial ties (i.e., business and political) in green innovation and further investigated the moderating effects of two types of contextual factors (i.e., environmental regulations and competit…
Dentin isotopic reconstruction of individual life histories reveals millet consumption during weaning and childhood at the Late Neolithic (4500 bp) Gaoshan site in southwestern China
Here, we present results of a pilot project that measured δ13C and δ15N values in bone collagen (ribs and femora) as well as dentin serial sections to examine individual dietary life histories at a Late Neolithic (4500 bp) site known as Gaoshan Ancient City (高山古城) located on the Chengdu Plain in Sichuan Province, China. The isotopic data of the bones indicate that humans consumed C3-based foods, which corresponds to the dominance of rice agricult…
Predicting Future High-Cost Schizophrenia Patients Using High-Dimensional Administrative Data
Using advanced feature selection leveraging detailed health care, medication utilization features, and supervised machine learning methods improved the ability to predict and identify future high-cost patients with schizophrenia when compared with the CMS-HCC model
Prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus 1 infection in the last decade among entry travelers in Yunnan Province, China
We have clarified the rate of HIV-1 infection among this bridge population. The characteristics of HIV-1 positive population and high geographical heterogeneity have provided the necessary epidemiological data for monitoring the HIV-1 epidemic among cross-border travelers in Yunnan and to further understand the cross-border spreading of the HIV-1 infection
